Special Guest Comment in Commemoration of Holocaust Memorial Week and the Life of an Israeli Soldier Killed in Action
IDF officer Hadar Goldin was killed and kidnapped during “Operation Protective Edge” in 2014. His body is still being held by Hamas. He wrote the following letter, as a student, to his parents during his visit to the Auschwitz extermination camp in Poland. This year his parents have joined the march of the living and will read his letter out in Auschwitz. Hadar already understood, during his visit to Auschwitz, how important the defense of his country was!
Mom and Dad,
I am sitting in the corner of one of the transport carriages in Poland. I wonder how many children like me, or maybe people different from me, passed this way before. The one thing they had in common was they were all Jews. Uprooted from their homes, their families, their parents or children without knowing where they were headed or what their destiny was. I want to tell you that, because of you, I know what my destiny is.
I will be returning to Israel. My country and our country. And I understand that, thanks to you, I know what my country affords me, but in principle – I know what I need to give of myself to my country. And in introspection I know that I have the ability to give the maximum. Whether it is representing my and our country abroad, in Chesterton, in Cambridge, at school or in the community. To be honest, fair and smart and where there are no people to be a man! To be human, as you always say. Amongst friends, at school to succeed and do the best I can. To represent and defend my country in the IDF with different kinds of weapons. Always with the tools you have equipped me with. Mom and Dad I want to say thank you.
Dad, thank you that you built me up, helped me build myself up, for the unending care, the unlimited guidance and education. Mom! Thank you that each time I lose something – myself, you help me find it, you help me rise up and not fall. Your incessant worrying, the never ending support, your continual prayers and for what I have learnt from you.
Everything I observe here in Poland leads my thoughts back to you, to my grandparents, Tzur, Ayelet and Chemi. The realization that Tzur, I and everybody will attain the victory of the Jewish people, an incredible task that I am prepared to take on myself. You have impressed upon me this responsibility, from the second I was born.
I am now leaving the carriage like so many Jews before me. They marched and took their final steps and in their death honored God or by surviving honored life. I march from here to rise from the ashes like I was taught. I want to tell you that I love you from the bottom of my heart. Maybe I don’t say it enough, but my heart always says it, and I hope that my deeds manage to show just how much I love you when I don’t say it.
With endless love
Yours ….. Hadar
Please join with us in praying that Hadar’s remains will be returned to the Land of Israel, where he belongs.

The LORD bless you as you bless Israel by standing in defense of her right to exist on the land given to the Jewish people by the God of Israel. Lets pray that Israel will turn back to their God. Do not be silent, but share this with your fellow Christians, share it with your pastors, and with anyone you have a chance to speak to. Lets also pray for that breakthrough to the Muslims, and please remember to pray Divine protection for all of the soldiers in the IDF.
Shabbat Shalom …… David & Josie

1. PM Netanyahu Speech on Holocaust Memorial Day
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Sunday spoke at Holocaust Memorial ceremony at the Yad Va Shem Holcaust Museum in Jerusalem on Sunday. At the start of his speech, Netanyahu mentioned a new book which revealed that the United States, Britain and the Soviet bloc were aware of the murder of at least two million Jews by the Nazis at the end of 1942, and not two years later as originally believed. ?The world powers knew and didn’t take action. They could have saved four million Jews,? he said. “The anti-Semitism of radical Islam, Iran and the Islamic State wants to destroy us. The hatred for Jews is now being directed towards the Jewish state. As for the indifference of the world, has anything changed in that regard? The answer is no. There are many instances in which the world stands by and fails to prevent genocide,? said Netanyahu. “Since World War II, there has been no tragedy like the Holocaust, but in many cases the world stands by and does not prevent genocide. At the same time, there are several points of light within the darkness. One of them just recently occurred and that is [U.S. President Donald] Trump’s decisive response to the massacre of Syrian children using chemical weapons.? “Those who threaten to destroy us risk being destroyed themselves,” Netanyahu then warned. “From being defenseless people, we have become a state with a defensive capacity that is among the strongest in the world,” he added. Pray that PM Netanyahu continues to lead Israel with a strong hand and the fear of the LORD
2. The New York Times Made a Terrible Mistake INN News April 19th
Israeli attorney Yifa Segal, also director of the International Legal Forum (ILF), spoke with Israeli media sources about the NY Times? recent publication of an article by arch-terrorist Marwan Barghouti, sitting in an Israeli jail for numerous acts of murder. Segal blasted the paper for its terrible lapse in moral judgment by allowing the publication of the piece. I read Barghouti?s letter and I have to tell you that I was completely appalled by what he says there, but it was not surprising, because every stage you give him he will use to spread his propaganda, lies and hatred. I think the New York Times made a terrible mistake in permitting him to do so. It?s a choice by the editors to allow this person, who is sitting in jail for numerous murders and is possibly the worst terrorist that we know of, to spread his propaganda and lies in their newspaper, and they are giving him legitimacy by publishing his article.? Lets pray that the international media wakes up to the truth and stops supporting cold blooded killers like Barghouti.
3. US Secretary of State: Iran Potentially More Dangerous than North Korea New York Post April 19th
US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson is warning that an ?unchecked Iran? had the potential to follow in North Korea?s footsteps – and ?take the world along with it.? Speaking at the State Department, Tillerson said the USA was ultimately at risk of going to nuclear war with Iran, should it decide to keep building more missiles as it has been doing. ?Iran is the world?s leading state sponsor of terrorism and is responsible for intensifying multiple conflicts and undermining USA interests in countries such as Syria, Yemen, Iraq, and Lebanon,? Tillerson explained. ?Whether it be assassination attempts, support of weapons of mass destruction, or deploying destabilizing militias, Iran spends its treasure and time disrupting peace.? Tillerson went on to claim that Obama?s 2015 nuclear agreement between the UN and Iran was a complete failure – citing reports that the country displayed a missile inscribed ?death to Israel? during a military parade this week. Tillerson claimed Iran had been ?behind terrorist attacks throughout the rest of the world? – including a plot to kill Adel al-Jubeir, former Saudi ambassador to the United States. ?Iran?s nuclear ambitions are a grave risk to international peace and security,? he said. Let’s pray that other political leaders take Tillerson’s warning very seriously and act accordingly.
4. German Foreign Minister Makes the Wrong Choice Israel Today News April 26th
German Foreign Minister Gabriel made a choice during his visit to Israel. He chosen to meet with two subversive organisations rather than to meet Prime Minister Netanyahu.
Gabriel’s choice would be akin to a visit to Germany by Israel’s Foreign Minister during which he met with German NGOs investigating German soldiers for war crimes in Afghanistan rather than meet with Chancellor Angela Merkel. What makes Gabriel’s choice even more aggravating is the fact that his visit was part of Germany’s participation in Holocaust Memorial Day. Not unrelated is the fact that Gabriel’s father was an avowed Nazi until the day he died in 2012. Further still, Gabriel’s choice was made after a week of exchanges between himself and Netanyahu’s office. Gabriel’s choice was Germany’s choice to prefer blatant anti-Israel NGOs over the elected Prime Minister of Israel.
The two organizations are B’Tzelem and Breaking the Silence, groups that exist only to vilify Israel. Germany is supporting these organizations with millions of Euros, thus blatantly interfering in Israel’s internal affairs. Eldad Beck, a journalist who lived for many years in Germany, and who is well versed in German politics, wrote that Sigmar’s was a deliberate and well calculated provocation. “Anyone claiming that the German Foreign Minister didn’t know about the explosive nature of his meeting with Breaking the Silence and B’Tzelem, is throwing dust in your eyes. The German government, German political parties and private and government funds are among the largest supporters of [Israeli] left-wing organizations.” Given this background, Netanyahu has drawn a clear red line: “My policy is clear,” he said, “not to meet with diplomats who visit Israel and engage with organizations that slander Israeli soldiers and seek to have them put on trial as war criminals.” Pray that the German government apologises to Israel for this extremely rude political decision
5. President Trump May Visit Israel in May Times of Israel News April 26th
Officials in Jerusalem and Washington are in advanced talks to arrange a visit by US President Donald Trump to Israel in May. If the plans go ahead it will be Trump?s first ever visit to Israel. Israel Radio said the talks had been going on for several weeks and that a US delegation to prepare for the visit was set to arrive in Israel on Thursday. A senior diplomatic official told the radio that the chances of Trump coming to Israel were at 80 percent. Trump, whose first scheduled foreign trip as president is a visit to Brussels next month, is looking to expand on that by arriving in Israel on May 21 or in the days after. If Trump were to visit on those dates it would coincide with Israel?s celebration of the 50th anniversary of the reunification of Jerusalem in the 1967 Six Day War, which falls this year on the eve of May 23 and the day of the 24th. It also coincides with an important decision Trump will have to make on whether to move the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem as he promised in his election campaign. Lets pray that this visit will go ahead and that President Trump
will keep his promise to move the embassy back to Jerusalem
6. Israeli Hints it Attacked Syrian Airbase Israel Today News April 27th
Israel?s Minister of Intelligence Israel Katz on Thursday strongly hinted that the Jewish state had carried out a large aerial strike on Damascus International Airport earlier in the day.
Various regional and international media reported massive explosions on the outskirts of Syria?s main airport early Thursday morning. Hours later, Katz told Israel Radio: ?We are acting to prevent the transfer of sophisticated weapons from Syria to Hezbollah in Lebanon by Iran. When we receive serious information about the intention to transfer weapons to Hezbollah, we will act. This incident is totally consistent with this policy.? Arab media noted that warehouses used by Hezbollah and Iran to store weapons are located at Damascus airport. Syria previously threatened that if Israel again attacked targets on Syrian soil, there would be a severe military response. Pray that Israel will continue to take any action it sees as necessary acts of defense
7. UNESCO Head Reaffirms Temple Mount as Judaisms Most Holy Site World Israel News April 27th
UNESCO?s new Director General reaffirmed that ?to deny, conceal, or erase any of the Jewish, Christian or Muslim traditions runs counter to the reasons that justified its inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage list.? Irina Bokova acknowledged the utmost importance of Jerusalem?s Temple Mount to the Jewish people, while addressing the 15th plenary assembly of the World Jewish Congress on Monday. ?The Al Aqsa Mosque / Al-Haram al-Sharif, the sacred shrine of the Muslims, is also the Har Habayit ? or Temple Mount ? the holiest place in Judaism, whose Western Wall is revered by millions across the world, a few steps away from the Saint Sepulchre and the Mount of Olives holy to the Christians,? Bokova noted.
Bokova reaffirmed Jerusalem’s connection to the Jewish people while addressing the European Jewish Policy Conference. ?The protection of the heritage of Jerusalem is part of a broader vision for peace and the fight against all forms of denial of Jewish history, delegitimization of Israel and anti-Semitism,? she said. Bokova is also on record for opposing one of the resolutions passed by UNESCO members, which avoided explicitly mentioning the Temple Mount and Western Wall Plaza, despite referring to the Islamic names of the two sites. Subsequently, Bokova has receieved a number of death threats. Pray that the LORD will protect and bless Irina Bokova as she stands with Israel’s right to the Temple Mount.
