David’s Comment: The Fall ‘Feasts’ of the LORD
Leviticus 23:1 -2 YHVH said to Moses: Speak to the Israelites and tell them “These are the YHVH’s appointed times which you must proclaim as Holy assemblies. They are My appointed times ………
Introduction The Fall Festivals begin in Israel on Sunday night. The Jewish calendar revolves around the annual Biblical ‘Feast’ cycle, which is linked to the annual harvest cycle. The Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, is all about a harvest – GOD’s plan of redemption, as He prepares to harvest a people who will live forever with Him in His Kingdom. YHVH is in the process of the restoration of all things in preparation for the return of His Son, Yeshua ( Acts 3:21) to take up His prophesied role of Messiah, Saviour and King of the Earth. In Psalm 102:16, the Word tells is that the Lord will build up Zion and then He will appear in His glory. When the Bible says Zion, it means Israel, however if the Church is in her correct Biblical position, grafted into the natural Olive Tree (Romans 11:17), then she is also a part of Zion, and thus is also included in the restoration process. However, because of the effects of the 2nd century separation of the Church from her true roots and the effects of Replacement Theology, the majority of Christian leaders have called them Jewish Feasts, which they wanted nothing to do with and thus ignored the ‘Feasts’ and of the LORD for most of the last 1900 years. But now we are in the time of the restoration of all things for Israel and the Church (see my Restoration booklet)
Josie and I take this call to advance the restoration very seriously, and we do our best to teach our non-Jewish ‘fellow citizens’ (Ep 2:19) in the nations how to keep the ‘Feasts’ in a Biblical manner. As the ‘Feasts’ come around, we will publish a simple teaching on how the follow the Biblical instructions for each ‘Feast.’ As Josie says there is a ‘richness’ in the ‘Feasts’ of the Lord, that most Christians are missing out on. We pray that through these teachings you will learn more about the God of Israel and His Anonted One – Yeshua our Messiah and soon coming King. May you also discover the riches and blessings of the ‘Feasts’ of the Lord. Hag Sameach
The Relevance of the ‘Feasts’ – Why All Who Love the LORD should live by His calendar.
1/. The reason that I have place punctuation marks around the word ‘Feasts’ each time it has appeared in this comment so far is that the Hebrew word in the Bible is not Feast, but Moedim, which means Appointed Times. These set dates are the days that GOD has sovereignly Appointed to interact with His people. Of course we can meet with the LORD at any time, but the Moedim are the dates that He has chosen to meet with us in a very special way.
2/. There are 7 Moedim (interesting number) and they portray a prophetic picture of God’s timetable and redemption plan for the World. Biblical history shows that YHVH only makes strategic moves on these 7 dates. The major events in the New Testament have all occured on Moedim dates and the numerology is strikingly exact. The feasts of Passover, Unleavened Bread, First-Fruits and Shavuot have been fulfilled in the death and resurrection of Yeshua and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost. The final 3 Moedim are all about the Messiah’s return and Millenium reign from Jerusalem. Imagine that you ask someone for directions from one place to another and they give you 7 waypoints, and the first 4 are exactly where the person said they would be, you would be confident tha the final 3 will get you to your destination. In the same way, if we take note of the first 4 Moedim, we can be confident that the last 3 will be fulfilled exactly, bringing us to our hoped for final destination.
3/. Keeping the Moedim of the YHVH makes us ‘Holy’ or ‘sanctified,’ which really means to be set apart. Keeping the Moedim of the LORD and not the other religious holidays sets us apart from the rest of the World, and sadly sets us apart from many others in our families and in our congregations, who choose not to conform to GOD’s times and seasons. Yes there is a price to pay for those who choose to worship Him in spirit and in truth. And it can be a very high price for some people. 4/. Finally another very important purpose of the Moedim is to teach the next generation about GOD’s nature and the coming of the Messiah. YHVH’s faithfulness can be clearly seen in the Moedim and there is a clear prophetic picture of the Messiah in all of the 7. The fact that the Jewish people still exist, in spite of having a 4000 year history of Satan inspired men who have tried their best to destroy us clear evidence of GOD’s faithfulness to keep His promises. The Jewish people are still here, much to the displeasure of our Muslim neighbours and anti-Semites world-wide, and once again are able to celebrate the 7 Moedim every year in the Promised Land, which is also a clear sign that the Messiah’s return is very close. So let us set ourselves apart from the world, and learn how to celebrate the Feasts of the YHVH and in doing so we will teach our children about the GOD of lsrael ……….
This coming Sunday night is the first of the Fall Moedim … Yom Ha Teruah – The Memorial of Shofar Blasts. Leviticus 23: 24 “In the seventh month. on the first day of the month, you shall have a Sabbath, a memorial blowing of Shofars, and a Holy assembly.” Most Jewish families celebrate with traditional prayers and a family meal on the evening that the festival begins. In Israel the next 2 days are public holidays. Religious Jews spend much of the Yom ha Teruah praying in Synogogues where the Shofar is blown a number of times, Most Secular Jews in Israel spend the days at the beach or in the national parks. Because most Jewish people see this festival as the New Year, the tradition is to eat apples dipped in honey and wish each other a sweet year ahead. Most Rabbis teach that YHVH created the Universe at this time of the year.
How Believers in Yeshua Can Celebrate Yom ha Teruah
As best we should at least acknowledge that this 24 hour period is one of the LORD’s Appointed Times to meet with us in a special way. As It is to be a Holy convocation or gathering together, we should also dedicate some time of prayer and praise and enjoy fellowship over a meal with Believing family and friends on the eve of the Feast. And if possible take the next day off from doing our customary work. More important is the prophetic aspect of Yom ha Teruah. Today many Bible commentators believe that the Rapture of God’s people will occur one year on the day of Yom Ha Teruah (1 Cor 15;52 – at the last Shofar ). All true Believers should be looking forward to that day, which is close, but yet a few years (at least 7) in the future. That is surely something to look forward to, however we will all be here for a while yet, and we are involved in a war – a war between the 2 spiritual kingdoms. Like Esther, we have all been called to the Kingdom at such a time as this, not to be spectators, but to be soldiers in the Army of God. (2 Tim 2:3 & 4 – Eph 6:12-18 – 2 Cor 10:4) In spite of the shock and grief that many are sensing as we witness our world shaking apart, Josie and I want to wish all of our Jewish brethren Hag Sameach – Have a happy and blessed Yom Ha Teruah and to all of our ‘grafted-in …. fellow citizens’,
we invite you to enjoy a pre-taste of eternity and celebrate this Feast of Trumpets with the Jewish people in Israel and in the nations. It is Biblical to make a special offering to the LORD on the Moedim. If you are not a regular financial supporter of Out of Zion, please pray about directing your special offering to this ministry.
May the Lord abundantly bless you this Yom ha Teruah as you awaken to the Shofar blast, and please be sure to WATCH, PRAY and help PREPARE the way of the Lord’s return
The LORD bless you as you bless Israel by standing in defense of her right to exist on all of the land given to the Jewish people by the GOD of Israel. Please pray that all Israel will turn back to their GOD. Do not be silent, but share this with your fellow Christians, share it with your pastors, and with anyone you have a chance to speak to. Lets also pray for a breakthrough to the Muslims, and please remember to pray Divine protection for all of the soldiers in the IDF.
Shabbat Shalom v Hag Teruah Sameach ….. David & Josie h

1. Israel Air Force Teams Up with Saudi Air Force in Historic First Israel Report Sept 21st
Saudi Arabia and Israel have quietly launched their first joint operation against Iran and its Iraqi Shiite militia pawns, a new, epic and undisclosed turn of events in the crisis surrounding the Islamic Republic. On September 8, their combined air forces bombarded the Iranian Al Qods Brigades and Iraqi militia forces, which had established themselves around the border towns of Abu Kamal in Syria and Al Qaim in Iraq. F-15 and F-16 fighter jets along with various types of UAV’s pummelled those targets for 10 straight days up until September 17. There was no direct involvement by the US forces stationed in Syria and Iraq, only US air cover hovering over the Saudi-Israel aerial operation and a flow of intelligence data. Wave after wave of Israeli and Saudi warplanes were in action around the clock, withdrawing every few hours for drones to take over. The bombardment forced Al Qods and Iraqi militia fighters to run for their lives from place to place in search of shelter. An estimated 150 Iranian and Iraqi militiamen were killed and several hundred injured. The military infrastructure Iran had laid down across the Syrian-Iraqi border was wiped out totally or partially. Iran?s shattering cruise missile-drone assault on Saudi oil installations on Saturday, September 14 came at a peak moment of the Israeli-Saudi air assault on its military assets in Syria and Iraq. This event was historic in terms of Middle East military and political history. Pray that more Muslim countries will begin to seek out good diplomatic, military and trade relations with Israel.
2. Mother of Fallen IDF Soldier Asks World to Help Bring Sons Body Back Home Times of Israel News Sept. 22nd
The mother of an Israeli soldier killed in Gaza in 2014 demands international action to bring him home, suggesting aid to the enclave should be contingent on Hamas returning his remains. Leah Goldin gives an emotional appeal to the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, lamenting that Hamas had ?cruelly tormented our family? for five years by denying her son a proper burial. Lt. Hadar Goldin was 23 when he was killed in August 2014, shortly after a UN-backed ceasefire was declared in the Gaza war between Israel and Hamas. Goldin?s remains and those of another soldier killed in the war, Oron Shaul, are believed to be in the hands of Hamas. Two Israeli civilians ? both reputed to be mentally unstable ? are also believed to be in Hamas custody after entering the blockaded Gaza Strip. Let us stand with this bereived mother and pray for the quick return of her son’s remains
3. Syria Deploys Army Force Near Israel Border United with Israel News Sept 23rd
A large number of Syrian military reinforcements have been deployed at the border with the Israeli Golan Heights. Reinforcements were dispatched to observation posts in both the Al-Quneitra and Daraa areas. It cites its source as calling the military measure ?a precautionary move by the Syrian Armed Forces? due to the fact that the ?suspected Israeli drones that were shot down this week? had entered Syria from the Golan Heights region. According to official Syrian news agency SANA, a drone was shot down in the Quneitra area near the Israeli border. The first of the suspected Israeli drones was shot down on Thursday night when it was seen flying over the Aqraba area of southeastern Damascus. The news site referred to the aerial vehicle as a ?suspected Israeli drone carrying cluster bombs, basing its reporting on ?a military source in southern Syria. The IDF Arabic-language spokesman Avichay Adraee said the drone did not come from Israel. He added that, in fact, it was likely to have been Iranian. What is ?certain,? he tweeted, is that it was not an Israeli military drone. Pray that the Israel / Syria border remains peaceful for as long as possible
4. IDF Discovers Bomb at Joseph’s Tomb World Israel News Sept 23rd
IDF forces securing the entry of Israelis into the city of Shechem (Nablus) to pray at Joseph?s Tomb exposed a bomb that was apparently meant to target the worshippers. The forces defused the bomb, without injuries or damage. About 1,250 worshipers attended a special prayer session held ahead of Rosh Hashanah, which will be celebrated next week. The event was held without incident. The worshippers have previously been attacked by rioters. The entry into Shechem, which was coordinated with the IDF, occurs several times a year. The prayers take place only during the night and under heavy security provided by the Israeli forces. Pray that all planned terror attacks are revealed and prevented
5. PM Netanyahu Given First Attempt to Form New Government United With Israel Sept 25th
Last Wednesday, Israel?s President Reuven Rivlin tapped incumbent Benjamin Netanyahu to take first crack at assembling a majority coalition in the Knesset. The move came after Rivlin summoned the leaders of the country?s two largest parties to his residence for a second time in a stepped-up effort to break the post-election political deadlock paralyzing the nation. Rivlin is responsible for choosing the candidate he believes has the best chance of forming a coalition government. Neither Netanyahu, nor his challenger Benny Gantz, won the required support of a parliamentary majority in last week?s election. Rivlin this week mediated a first meeting between the two men in hopes of forging a unity deal between Netanyahu?s Likud party and Gantz?s Blue and White. They returned to Rivlin?s official residence on Wednesday night for another round of talks. The talks have bogged down due to disagreements over who should lead the unity government. Gantz previously said he will not be part of a government headed by Netanyahu because of the prime minister?s legal problems. After unity talks failed, Rivlin gave Netanyahu the difficult task of cobbling together a coalition. Israeli media previously speculated that Netanyahu would be given the first opportunity, a prediction that turned out to be correct. Pray that the mane the LORD has pre-chosen to be the next Prime Minister of Israel, will indeed be able to form a coalition government this time.
6. What Happens Next if Netanyahu Fails? Times of Israel News Sept 27th
Israeli President Rivlin has specified that both the Likud party and Blue and White had promised to ?return the mandate? to him if their leader was selected to form a coalition and failed to do so ? in contrast to April-May, when Netanyahu moved to dissolve the Knesset rather than let Gantz try to build a majority. Rivlin indicated that if PM Netanyahu does indeed fail, he would be prepared to let Gantz have a try. Blue and White may want to believe that, as the weeks pass, and the prospect of a third election inside a year looms larger, Likud Knesset members might break away from PM Netanyahu or seek to oust him, rather than risk losing their seats under a leader deeply embroiled in legal complications. To date, all Likud MKs have pledged and shown complete loyalty to Netanyahu, who said that he shared Rivlin?s desire for unity, and recognized the imperative for national reconciliation after a divisive election campaign. He said Israel needed a ?broad unity government? ? indicating his ongoing commitment to his ultra-Orthodox and religious-nationalist allies, with whom Gantz has refused to negotiate. He also argued that Israel needs a government soon ? to grapple with the Iranian threat, to meet Israel?s economic challenges, and to deal appropriately with the opportunities and challenges of the imminent Trump administration peace plan. Still, he indicated that he would not take all the time the law allows to try to build a majority; if it was clear within the next few days that there was no chance of success, he?d return the mandate to Rivlin. Please pray that the LORD will move upon the hearts of all involved and that a solid government will be formed as quickly as possible.
