David’s Comment: Back to Biblical Basics Pt. 6 – Who or What is the ‘Church’ ?
Matthew 16:18 And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
The first thing we need to realise is that the word ‘church’ is not in the original text of the Bible. Church is derived from the German word Kirke which means circle. The Greek word that was translated into English as ‘Church’ is ‘Ekklesia‘, which means the called out or set apart ones. For hundreds of years the English-speaking world has used the same word ‘church’ to describe both the people and the building that the people meet in. In most of the other Latin-based languages the word for the building is different to the word used to describe the people. An even more serious issue, is that almost 2000 years, there has been a division between the words ‘Church’ and ‘Israel’. However in the Bible, which is an absolute expression of God’s perspective, Israel and the Church are the same entity. Please read on to discover why I say that …………
If we consider the very beginnings of faith in the Messiah, Yeshua of Nazareth, for the first 100 years the majority of people are believed that He was the Messiah were Jewish people living in Jerusalem or other parts of Israel. They did not cease to be Israelis and it is not cease to be Jewish. In those days they were sometimes referred to as The Way, and because they separated themselves from the use who did not believe in Yeshua, they were also refer to as The Called Out Ones or the Ekklesia in Greek. These were the initial followers of Yeshua. Therefore the very foundations of what we call in English today The Church were a large number of Jewish people living in Israel who loved through the life, that death and the resurrection of Yeshua, and came out the other side of that believing that He was the Messiah. Then the Jewish apostles and disciples followed the last command that they were given by Yeshua in Matthew 28.19, and went out to make disciples in all of the nations, bringing them into the faith of Israel and the Jewish people.
What I have written in the above paragraph is confirmed in Romans Chapter 11 and Ephesians chapter 2.
Romans 11:17 And if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive tree, were grafted in among them, and became a sharer of the root and the fatness of the olive tree with them,
Ephesians 2:19 Now therefore you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God,
From these verses it is clear to see that when anyone enters into a covenant relationship with the God of Israel through the blood of his Son, Yeshua, that person becomes a fully fledged part of Israel. I know that this may sound radical, but I believe that for every true Bible believing Christian, the future and destiny is for ever locked together with Israel and the Jewish people .
One of the most dangerous errors in the Church is Replacement Theology which teaches that God had finished with the Jewish people and the Church in now Israel. That is NOT what the Bible says. Over the last 1900 years and even today Churches have been full of people who called themselves Christians, but hate the Jewish people and use the teachings of Replacement Theology to justify their arrogant attitude towards the Jews. Paul gives a very serious warning about this
Romans 11:21 Do not boast against the branches: For if God did not spare the natural branches, do not be arogant lest He also not spare you either
I have come up with a new theology …… it is called Expansion Theology. In the times of the Old Covenant, Israel primarily consisted of the physical descendants of the 12 tribes of Israel, but on the day that Yeshua died on the cross and His blood sealed the New Covenant, Israel got expanded to every tribe and tongue on the earth. Everyone is invited in, however there is only one door and His name is Yeshua.
As we can see from events taking place in the Middle East in all around us, the time of the second coming of Messiah is getting very close. We need to warn those around us, both believers and unbeliever . Multitudes of people enjoy being in the Church, but the only way for a person to ensure the eternal salvation is to come into a blood sealed covenant relationship with the God of Israel thus being grafted in to the Olive Tree (Israel), And the only way for Jews and Gentiles to be grafted in, is to accept the blood sacrifice of the Lamb of God.
The LORD bless you as you bless Israel by standing in defense of her right to exist on the land given to the Jewish people by the God of Israel. Lets pray that Israel will turn back to their God. Do not be silent, but share this with your fellow Christians, share it with your pastors, and with anyone you have a chance to speak to. Lets also pray for that breakthrough to the Muslims, and please remember to pray Divine protection for all of the soldiers in the IDF.
Shabbat Shalom …… David & Josie

1. Hamas Reiterates: We Will Never Recognise Israel Israel Today News Nov 17th
A spokesman for Hamas reiterated on Wednesday that the terror group that rules the Gaza Strip would never recognize Israel’s right to exist, a firm prerequisite for peace. Sami Abu Zuhri insisted that Hamas would remain true to its principles and work for the realization of national reconciliation and unify the (so called) Palestinian people in service to their agenda of “liberating” every last inch of the Holy Land. The remarks were made at the opening session of the 26th International Conference of the Association of Islamic Organizations (ESAM) in Istanbul. Abu Zuhri boasted that Hamas had succeeded in transforming the “resistance” – code for anti-Israel terrorist violence – into a mainstream phenomenon, and called this a “source of pride” for all (the so called) Palestinians. He added that resistance could not be diplomatic alone, but must include armed violence. Pray that Hamas will cease to exist in the near future
2. Israel Bans EU Leaders from Meeting PA World News Israel Nov 19th
Following up on government directives to deny anti-Israel activists entry to the country, Interior Minister Aryeh Deri said he will adopt the recommendation of Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan to bar 20 European lawmakers from visiting Israel and the Palestinian Authority next week. The delegation has 20 participants, including French parliamentarians and mayors, and members of the European Parliament. On the itinerary is a prison visit with terror chief Marwan Barghouti who is serving five life sentences for orchestrating three terror attacks that killed five people. Pray that these EU leaders are not permitted to enter Israel until they stop favoring the mythical ‘Palestinians’
3. Will Trump Make the Same Mistakes as Previous Presidents ? Israel Today News Nov 20th
Most Israelis remain convinced that US President Donald Trump is cut from a different cloth than former presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama. In most regards, that’s true. But recent reports suggest Trump’s about to repeat some of the fundamental mistakes of his predecessors when it comes to the Middle East peace process. Together with his son-in-law Jared Kushner and other key officials, Trump has been putting together a proposal for kickstarting Israeli-Palestinian negotiations. The plan is said to put far more emphasis on normalization of ties between Israel and the broader Arab world, but apparently continues the failure of taking seriously Palestinian obstructionism. A senior PA official stressed in a series of interview that their deal-breaking red-line demands remain firmly in place. Namely, the Palestinians will accept no deal that doesn’t include Israel’s surrender of eastern Jerusalem and the removal of every single Jew from the entirety of Judea and Samaria, the so-called “West Bank.” “Despite the fact that many people in many countries are working to sell the plan, the Palestinian organizations oppose any deal that doesn?t ensure Palestinians the creation of an independent state and sovereignty over the 1967 borders with Jerusalem as their capital,” said Waleed Awad, a member of the Palestinian People?s Party (the former communist party).
Even more forthcoming was Ramzi Rabah, a member of the politburo of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine: “The fate of all the talk of a peace deal and agreements ? their fate will be failure as long as they don?t meet the demands and the expectations of the Palestinians. …Any other option is unacceptable.” These are conditions Israel can never accept, and that the Palestinians will never relinquish, meaning Trump’s proposal is as doomed as those before it, even before it’s been presented. Pray that President Trump does not follow the path of the former presidents, which will bring further doom on the USA
4. Lebanese Army Preparing Itself for War With Israel INN News Nov 21st
The commander of Lebanon?s military called on the army to prepare for a possible conflict with Israel Tuesday, ordering forces deployed near the southern border be placed on high alert. In a tweet by a spokesperson for the Lebanese military, Commander of the Lebanese Armed Forces Joseph Aoun, Lebanon?s US-trained Maronite Christian army chief who entered the position this spring, called on soldiers near the Israeli border to be on ?full readiness?. Aoun was quoted in the tweet as saying that the Lebanese army must be prepared to face ?threats of the Israeli enemy and its violations.?
Aoun?s comments come just days after Lebanese Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil threatened Israel, claiming his country would defeat the Jewish state militarily if provoked. Pray that the current state of peace continues for as long as possible
5. Terror Victim Dies of Wounds 6 Years After Attack
The tragic scene at Jerusalem’s Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital on Wednesday morning was a reminder that the casualty figures resulting from terrorist attacks are not always what they seem. We mourn the deceased, while assuming the wounded will ultimately recover. But, more often than not, the injuries suffered by even the “lightly” wounded become disabilities or sources of pain that will last a lifetime. In the case of Hodaya Asulin, her injury eventually lead to her death. Asulin was among the dozens injured when a Palestinian terrorist planted a bomb-laden backpack at a Jerusalem bus stop on March 23, 2011. That means she was among the dozens that news consumers assumed would be OK in the long-run. She wasn’t. Only 14-years-old at the time of the attack, Asulin spent the next six-and-a-half years in a coma, with family and friends keeping constant vigil and never losing hope that she’d one day return to them. She didn’t. Asulin, now 20-years-old, finally succumbed to her six-year-old injuries and was declared dead on Wednesday. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued the following statement: “I send condolences from the bottom of my heart to the family of Hodaya Asulin. The entire Israeli nation is embracing and supporting the family, which wrapped Hodaya in warmth and dedication since the terrible attack. May her memory forever remain blessed and ensconced in our hearts.” Pray for the Shalom of Yeshua to flow over her family & friends and that they will come to accept Him as their Messiah
6. Most Jews Living Outside of Israel in Favour of Moving Embassies to Jerusalem World Israel News Nov 23rd
More than 500 people from over 19 communities in seven countries were consulted in a survey conducted by a leading Jewish think-tank. The JPPI conducted discussions on Jerusalem around the world in the early part of 2017 and released its report on Tuesday, entitled ?Jerusalem and the Jewish People: Unity and Controversy.? While many discussion participants believe that Israel ought to take Diaspora Jewry?s concerns on a range of subjects into consideration, the report found that their support for Jerusalem remained heartfelt and strong. Interestingly, the report notes that these Diaspora Jews actually outpolled Israeli Jews when asked if they felt ?highly connected? to Jerusalem, 70% to 53%. More than half (55%) said that Jerusalem should never be divided, almost 70% said that all countries should move their embassies back to Jerusalem. And regarding the holiest site to Jews, almost 75% agreed (or somewhat agreed) with the statement that ?The Temple Mount must remain under Israeli jurisdiction.? Besides polling in Israel, the seminars conducted by JPPI took place in Switzerland, France, Australia, Brazil, Canada and across the United States. Continue to pray that Jerusalem is never divided again, that the Nations will relocate their embassies and the Israel will take back full control over the Temple Mount.
