David’s Special Family Comment: Great is His Faithfulness
Psalm 25:10 All the paths of YHVH are steadfast love and faithfulness
This is a very special week for the Silver family and we want to share it with our partners, to encourage you once again, that we all serve a GOD of steadfast love and faithfulness. As many of know, the LORD spoke to Josie and I almost 27 years ago now, clearly calling us to leave the nation where we were born and established our lives and our family, clean green New Zealand. After 7 months in a government immigrant centre in Haifa Bay, we moved to a rented apartment on top of Mt.Carmel. We attended Carmel Assembly for the first four years where we met the Shishkoff family who had arrived in Israel a few months after we did. I started a mobile car detailing business with Eitan Shishkoff, who became one of the pastors at Carmel Assembly, working out in the heat of the Israeli summer, doing my best to earn a living to provide for Josie and our 2 sons, Stefan and Jordan, who were aged 7 and 4 when we arrived here.
While I struggled to make a living, Josie struggled with becoming acclimatised to the extreme summer heat, and accustomised to the very different way of life in Israel, all the while suffering the emotional pain of total separation from her mother and 2 sisters, who were on the opposite side of the planet from where we were now living. At the same time Stefan and Jordan were struggling with adapting to the Israeli school system, where all their lessons were in Hebrew, a language that they did not know when they started school and pre-school. We all struggled with our new life in our own way for the first 4 or 5 years, but slowly life became easier for Josie and the boys. but for me it was not getting any easier. I was working on cars up to 10 hours a day, and never earned enough to cover our living expenses. After 5 years our life savings were totally depleted and I was very stressed out with concern of how I was going to provide for my family. I even need to get medical help as I hit the lowest point of my life.
But we serve a loving and faithful GOD who saw all that we were going through, and as we reached that all time low point, He moved His hand and began to turn our situation around. In 1995 Eitan Shishkoff invited me on an outreach mission to Jewish people of Moscow, and my life was dramatically changed in 10 days. The next year I took a team to a similar outreach in Moldova, and in 1997 I lead another team to Riga, Latvia, where I sensed the LORD calling me to start a ministry to the nations, and Out of Zion Ministries was born (Isaiah 2:3). I have been traveling ever since and most of you are on our mailing list as a result of our ministry to the nations. Like everything, the ministry began slowly, but it was not too long before I was ministering out of Zion for 30% of the year. As time went on, the prayer and financial support increased, enabling us to stay in Israel and continue taking the Word of the LORD out of Zion. GOD has indeed been faithful in that area of our lives.
More importantly YHVH has been incredibly faithful in our family life. Over the last 26 years our marriage was strengthened by our dependance on Him and dependance on each other. Stefan and Jordan mastered the Hebrew language and did well at school, and as most young Israelis, they were drafted into combat units in the Israeli army. They both excelled beyond our expectations, and both experienced and survived full blown war situations, because of GOD’s faithfulness and because we and many of you prayed for them – THANK YOU ! Stefan married Keren, an amazing musician whose music many of you have been blessed by. They increased our family with 4 beautiful little girls. Even though we lost Elinor Rose before she was born, we can all personally testify YHVH is truly a loving and faithful GOD. Now Stefan is a wonderful father and a pastor at a congregation here on Mt. Carmel and Keren is an amazing mother and has 2 produced 2 awesome worship CD’s – we are so blessed !
Now to the real point of this comment. Our second son Jordan is going to be married on Sunday evening. When we arrived in Israel 26 years ago, Jordan was a 4 year old ‘little lamb’ complete with a head full of woolley blond curly hair. His first few years were very difficult as he was surrounded by much tougher Israeli boys, but he managed to hang in there and his time in the army really toughened him up and changed him into a top level warrior. He had an amazing experience with the LORD about 4 years ago and has been walking with in the faith ever since. Of course Josie has been praying for a bride for Jordan since he became a teenager and finally her prayers have been answered by our loving and faithful GOD. Jordan started dating Limor about a year ago and a few months ago they announce their engagement. Limor is the middle daughter of Dani and Luanne Siag who are now the senior leaders at Carmel Assembly and Kerem El (where Stefan pastors).
Just as Keren was an overly abundant answer to Josie’s prayer requests for a bride for Stefan, Limor is an equally abundant answer to Josie’s prayer petitions for a bride for Jordan. As we prepare for our second family wedding here in the land of our forefathers, we stand in awe of the extent of the love and faithfulness that the GOD of Israel has extended to our family. Our family situation today is a extremely powerful testimony of His love and faithfulness. And the point I must make here is that if GOD has been so loving and faithful to us, He is surely willing and able to do the same for you and your family. If you are needing GOD to bless you and your family, have faith, be expectant and keep on praying.
Please would you keep both the Silver and the Siag families in your prayers as we finalise the wedding preparations and begin the countdown to the celebration on Sunday at 7.30 pm Israel time. Please pray that YHVH will pour out His abundant blessings upon Jordan and Limor as they begin their life together and that their marraige will bring even more blessings to both the Silver and the Siag families.
If you would like to send a prayer of blessing to Jordan and Limor, please email it to me and I will pass it on to them – firstname.lastname@example.org. If you would like to bless them with a financial gift to help them start off their life together, also please write to me and I will let you know how best to get it to them.
The LORD bless you as you bless Israel by standing in defense of her right to exist on the land given to the Jewish people by the GOD of Israel. Lets pray that Israel will turn back to their GOD. Do not be silent, but share this with your fellow Christians, share it with your pastors, and with anyone you have a chance to speak to. Lets also pray for a breakthrough to the Muslims, and please remember to pray Divine protection for all of the soldiers in the IDF.
Shabbat Shalom ….. David & Josie

1. Ceasefire in Place After 500 Rockets Fired From Gaza Israel News Nov 13th
After Hamas fired 500 rockets at Israel and the IDF responded with airstrikes on more than 100 terror related targets in the Gaza Strip, both sided have agreed to a ceasefire that was brokered by Egypt and the UN. One Arab man was killed when a Hamas rocket made a direct hit on a a home in the Israeli city of Ashkelon. A 19 tear old soldier was seriously injured when another Hamas rocket hit a bus from which 51 IDF soldiers had just alighted. Hamas is claiming that 8 people were killed on the Gaza side. On Tuesday night residents of southern Israel gathered to burn tires and block roads at the Sderot junction and Nir Am junction, and on Wednesday they plan to block roads in the heart of Tel Aviv with a clear demand: to put an end to the cycle of violence in the south.. “It’s better to suffer in the safe rooms, and once and for them to put an end to this,” Reut Bassis from Sderot told Channel 2 News. “I know that a month from now it will be the same thing again – another few days and again there will be missiles, and nothing would have changed. It’s not reasonable that this is how our lives look.” “We decided to protest against the agreement – we’re shooting ourselves in the legs,” Channel 2 quoted Miri from Sderot as saying. “The IDF demolishes empty buildings, and at the same time they send them trucks with concrete and building materials,” she said. “We have been at war for 17 years, our children are soldiers. They have PTSD. We are no longer willing to let them fool us, we do not believe neither the government nor its leader.” Zionist Union leader Avi Gabbay said “the residents of the south who are protesting are right. The government continues to abandon them.” Pray that Israel will cancel all restraints if Hamas breaks the ceasefire as they usuallly do.
2. IDF Leutenant Colonel Killed During Gaza Mission INN News Nov 12th
An IDF officer from an elite unit was killed on Sunday night during an operation inside the Gaza Strip. The IDF later identified the slain officer as Lt. Col. M., keeping all other details of the deceased classified. “IDF officer, Lt. Col. M., was killed last night during operational activity in the Gaza Strip. His family has been notified. The IDF extends its heartfelt condolences and will continue to support the family.” Another officer was injured and evacuated to hospital. The IDF statement said, ?During IDF special forces? operational activity in Gaza, an exchange of fire broke out, during which an IDF officer was killed and an additional IDF officer was moderately injured.? The incident occurred during an IDF operation three kilometers deep inside the Gaza Strip. The force entered Gaza in a civilian car, apparently in order to eliminate or kidnap Nur Barakeh, commander of the eastern battalion of Hamas? Izz Al-Din Al-Qassam Brigades in Khan Yunis. Pray for the family of the Colonel and for those injured to be restored to full health
3. Miracle Saved Soldier’s Life Israel Today News Nov 13th
Hamas terrorists operating on the edges of the Gaza Strip on Monday fired an anti-tank missile at a passenger bus driving on the Israeli side of the border. Just minutes earlier, the bus, which had no military markings, had dropped off some 50 Israeli soldiers at a gathering point ahead of expected operations against the Palestinian terror group. Two people were wounded in the strike, which can be seen in the video above?the 25-year-old Arab bus driver and a 19-year-old IDF soldier who was standing near the bus when it was hit. The soldier was initially listed in critical condition, but successfully underwent emergency surgery and is not being monitored in Intensive Care. According to numerous online reports, the driver, whose injuries were not life-threatening, told doctors at Soroka Medical Center in Beersheva that it was a “miracle” that the soldiers on his bus were not killed, and that the incident proves that “God loves the Jews.” Let’s give thanks to the GOD of Israel for this miracle and others that are yet to be reported
4. Israel’s Defense Minister Resigns Over Ceasefire World Israel News Nov 14th
Israel’s Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman announced his resignation in a press conference, Wednesday afternoon, expressing dissatisfaction with Israel?s ceasefire with Hamas. He says he will call for immediate elections. Liberman said. ?Yesterday?s ceasefire, in combination with an agreement process with Hamas is a capitulation to terror. What we?re doing in effect at the moment is buying quiet for the short-term at the cost of our national security in the long-term. The answer we gave to 500 rockets was neither adequate nor enough. From the security interest point of view, we had to finish first of all the issue of the south. The weakness that we revealed broadcasts to other areas,? he said. ?If I continued in my role, I wouldn?t be able to look in the eyes of the southern residents or the families of the kidnapped and missing,? he added. After the Security Cabinet meeting last night, senior officials said that all the Cabinet members approved the ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas in the wake of recent violence. Pray that the right person will be selected to take up the ultra important position as Israel’s Defense Minister
5. PM Netanyahu Defends Ceasefire Decision World News Israel Nov 14th
Amid protests and government upheaval due to the ceasefire with Hamas, Netanyahu defended the move, saying there were secret considerations. Ahead of Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman?s resignation due to his opposition to the ceasefire deal with Hamas, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu defended the truce agreement, saying there were reasons unknown to the public.?In times of emergency, when making decisions crucial to security, the public can?t always be privy to the considerations that must be hidden from the enemy,? Netanyahu said at a state memorial service for David Ben Gurion, Israel?s first prime minister, in Sde Boker. ?At these moments, it is not up to leadership to do the easy thing but to do the right thing, even if it is difficult. Leadership is sometimes to be criticized, when you know secret and sensitive things that you cannot share with the citizens of Israel, and in this case the residents of the south, whom I love so much and appreciate,? he added. ?Our enemies begged for a ceasefire, and they knew very well why,? the prime minister stated. The Egyptian-brokered ceasefire was reached Tuesday evening after Hamas and other terror groups in Gaza launched close to 500 rockets into Israel within 24 hours, resulting in one death and dozens of injuries. Pray that the reason PM Netanyahu made this decision becomes public knowledge
6. “Palestinians Vow to Reject New US Peace Plan Israel Today News Nov 11th
US President Trump’s plan for Middle East peace will fail, just like those of his predecessors, if the Palestinian Authority has anything to say about the matter.. At a ceremony marking the 14th anniversary of the death of his mentor, Yasser Arafat, current Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas vowed to outright reject Trump’s “deal of the century.” The controversial American leader has shaken up the standard formula for Israeli-Palestinian peacemaking, which for the past 25 years has failed to yield any significant results. Senior US officials were cited by Israeli media as saying that Trump’s plan will be published “soon.” Abbas insisted that it won’t matter, telling the Palestinians that they will find another way to “end the occupation.” He went on to call the Balfour Declaration a “conspiracy,” ignoring the fact that at the time of its publication in 1917, Arab leaders were in favor of re-establishing a national home for the Jewish people in the Middle East. In particular, Abbas stood firm on his insistence that the Palestinians will accept no peace agreement that does not make the eastern half of Jerusalem their capital city. Last year, Trump publicly recognized Israel’s claim to a united Jerusalem, telling the world that he had taken the Holy City “off the table” for future negotiation. Let’s agree in prayer that any peace plan not from the GOD of Israel will fail.
7. Israel Importing Produce from Gaza in Spite of Violence Israel Today News Nov 15th
Arabs living in the Gaza Strip infamously demolished all the farming equipment and facilities left behind by Israelis evacuating the coastal enclave in 2005. But that doesn’t mean the now-Hamas-ruled territory has stopped producing fresh vegetable and fruits. In fact, Israelis were shocked to discover that a large portion of the produce appearing on their supermarket shelves still comes from Gaza, despite Hamas and its terrorist allies routinely using the Strip as a launch site for rocket attacks on the Jewish state. “Ever day you [Israelis] are eating vegetables from the same fields of terror from which they just fired 535 rockets in just two days,” reported 04040 online news service, referring to the latest round of Gaza fighting in which Hamas pounded southern Israel. “They are attacking in order to eliminate us, and we continue to spoil them with our money,” the report continued, as a video clip showed boxes of fresh produce with stickers indicating that it was a “Product of Gaza” from a farmer named Ahmed Khaled Astel. Those stickers, noted 0404, are usually removed before the produce is sent to Israeli supermarkets so that customers won’t know from where it came.
