David’s Comment: Shavuot – The Feast of Weeks – Pentecost
Acts 2: 1- 4 When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.

The Jewish people celebrated Shavuot or the Feast of Weeks on Tuesday evening and Wednesday this week, and the Christian world celebrates Pentecost this weekend. The  word Pentecost is Greek for 50 days, and we know that it was on that day that the Ruach ha Kodesh or the Holy Spirit came down to Jerusalem in a very dramatic and powerful way. This day was the same date that Moses received the Torah on Mt Sinai, 50 days after the Israelites crossed through the Red Sea and began their 40 year desert journey to the Promised Land of Israel. The Hebrew name of this festival Shavuot is the plural from the word shavua = week  = 7 days (sheva). If we multiply shavua x shavua we get 49, which are very interesting timings.

As I have shared before, the major New Testament events occur precisely as a fulfillment of the Feasts of YHVH that He commanded His people to keep. The correlation between the original Shavuot – the giving of the Torah on Mount Sinai in Exodus 19, and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in Acts 2, are amazing. In both case the event takes place 50 days after Passover. The Torah was given 50 days after the lambs were sacrificed at the original Passover, and the Holy Spirit came down on the 50th day after the Passover when the Lamb of God was sacrificed.

At both events the people were gathered to appear before God. At the original Shavuot the Israelites were camped at the bottom of the mountain. (Exodus 19:2). At Shavuot after the resurrection of Yeshua, we read ?When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place.?  (Acts 2:1)  Both events were accompanied by a loud noise and fire that came down from Heaven.  ?On the morning of the third day there were thunders and lightnings and a thick cloud on the mountain and a very loud trumpet blast.? (Exodus 19:16) ….. ?And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind.? (Acts 2:2)  ?And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them.? (Acts 2:3)

At both events God wrote His Torah by His Spirit. At Mt.Sinai God wrote the Torah on tablets of stone. ?And he gave to Moses, when he had finished speaking with him on Mount Sinai, the two tablets of the testimony, tablets of stone, written with the finger of God.? (Exodus 31:18)  At Pentecost God wrote the same Torah on the hearts of the 12 apostles. It was a fulfillment of the new covenant. ?But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the LORD: I will put my Torah within them, and I will write it on their hearts.? (Jeremiah 31:33)

There is one more amazing similarity between both events. At Mt.Sinai 3000 people died. Exodus 32:28 On that day 3000 people fell. On the day of Pentecost, 3000 people were born again. It was the first harvest unto the Lord. All of the Feasts of the LORD are connected to the harvest cycle. Shavuot is a harvest Feast, celebrating the first harvest. ?You shall count seven full weeks from the day after the Sabbath, from the day that you brought the sheaf of the wave offering. You shall count fifty days to the day after the seventh Sabbath. Then you shall present a grain offering of new grain to the LORD.? (Leviticus 23:15-16)

The New Covenant fulfillment of Shavuot is also about the harvest. At the end of his Gospel message on the Day of Pentecost, Peter said ?Save yourselves from this crooked generation.? So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls. (Ac 2:40-41)

Please pray with us that YHVH will continue to bring in the harvest of His Jewish people. Pray the same words that  the Apostle Paul that one day ALL Israel will be saved.  And please pray that YHVH will pour out a fresh and greater anointing of His Holy Spirit on the Messianic Jews in Israel and around the world. Lets also pray for a fresh outpouring of the Ruach ha Kodesh (the Holy Spirit) on the entire Body of Messiah in the nations.

The LORD bless you as you bless Israel by standing in defense of her right to exist on the land given to the Jewish people by the God of Israel.  Let’s pray that Israel will turn back to their God. Do not be silent, but share this with your fellow Christians, share it with your pastors, and with anyone you have a chance to speak to. Let’s also pray for that breakthrough to the Muslims, and please remember to pray Divine protection for all of the soldiers in the IDF.

Shabbat Shalom ……  David & Jose

1. President Trump Furious With PA Leader    INN News  May 29th

President Trump lambasted Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, after the president claims the PA leader deceived him regarding his party?s involvement in anti-Israel incitement. Trump met with Abbas in the PA-controlled city of Bethlehem last week during his two-day visit to Israel. The two held a joint press conference, at which time the president praised Abbas? commitment to restarting negotiations with Israel for a final status agreement. But according to a report by Channel 2 Sunday evening, the closed-door meeting between the president and the PA chairman was anything but cordial. A US official present during the meeting claims the president expressed outrage with Abbas, yelling at him regarding Abbas? claims that his Fatah faction was not involved in anti-Israel and anti-Semitic incitement. ?You tricked me in Washington,? the president is said to have yelled at Abbas, referencing the PA leader?s visit in March when Abbas claimed he was dedicated to advancing peaceful relations with Israel, and that the PA was not engaged in incitement against the Jewish state.

Prime Minister Netanyahu pubilcally refuted Abbas’s claim noting the PA?s continued material support for jailed terrorists and promotion of hateful propaganda encouraging young Arabs to take up arms against Israel. “I heard President Abbas yesterday say that the Palestinians teach their children peace,? said Netanyahu. ?Unfortunately, that’s not true. They name their schools after mass murderers of Israelis and they pay terrorists,? he said. According to the American official who spoke with Channel 2, beyond the PM?s statement, Israel also provided the White House with proof of the PA?s support for and promotion of terrorism. ?You talked to me about peace, but the Israelis showed me that you are personally supporting incitement,? Trump reportedly told Abbas last week. During their joint presser last Tuesday, President Trump alluded to the PA?s funding for jailed terrorists, calling it an obstacle to peace. “Peace can never take root in a place where violence is tolerated, funded and even rewarded,? he said. Pray that President Trump continues to stand with Israel and moves the US embassy to Jerusalem.

2. Naftali Bennet: We Will Not Divide the Land    Arutz 7  May 28th

Speaking at a Jerusalem Day celebration, Education Minister Naftali Bennett responded to a report that the USA is demanding that Israel transfer parts of northern Samaria from Area C, under Israeli rule to Area B, part of the Palestinian Authority where Israel is only in charge of security. According to the report, PM Netanyahu also opposes the move, which would effectively cede control over the affected areas from Israel to the PA. Bennett said that: “the era in which we treat the Land of Israel as a mere piece of real estate – that era is over. We will not take a saw and slice off parts of our land to give to our enemies. That era is over. I come now from the march of flags to the Western Wall. The organizers and the police said that it was the largest march for Jerusalem Day ever, and the most people who have been at the Western Wall since 1967. He said that when speaking about ‘united Jerusalem,’ “the Temple Mount, the Western Wall, the entire Old City, the City of David, Ma’aleh Hazeitim, The Mount of Olives, and Nof Zion” should also be remembered. “All of Jerusalem that will remain united under Israeli sovereignty and only under the sovereignty of Israel forever.”  Pray in agreement with Naftali Bennet that the Land will never be divided again

3. ‘Palestinian’ Incitement Continues    Israel Today News   May 30th

The Palestinian Authority built a “women’s center” in Burqa with aid that originated with Norway. They placed the Norwegian Foreign Ministry’s logo on the building in recognition of the funding. And then the PA promptly dedicated the center in honor of Dalal Mughrabi, the terrorist that carried out one of the most deadly and gruesome terror attacks in Israel’s history. 35 Israeli civilians were killed, including 12 children in the Coastal Road Massacre in 1978. Dalal Mughrabi was the commander of the terrorist cell that carried out the attack. She was eliminated in the ensuing battle between the terrorists and Israeli security forces. Norwegian Foreign Minister strongly opposed the move by the PA and demanded that the Norwegian Foreign Ministry’s logo be immediately removed from the building and that the aid money used to fund the construction be returned. The Israeli Foreign Ministry issued a statement saying, “Norway took the right step. A firm stance against the commemoration of terrorists is an integral part of the international effort to eradicate terrorism. We recommend that the international community thoroughly check where their money is invested in the Palestinian Authority and we expect all project partners to act as Norway did.” Lets pray that all international aid is cut off to mythical Palestinians – let the rich Muslim nations give aid where needed

4. PA Pays $1 Billion Salary to Terrorists   Times of Israel News   May 30th

The Palestinian Authority has paid out some NIS 4 billion ? or $1.12 billion ? over the past four years to terrorists and their families, a former director general of the Ministry of Strategic Affairs and ex-head of the army?s intelligence and research division told a top Knesset panel on Monday. The period for which a Palestinian security prisoner is jailed, ?the higher the salary? Anyone who has sat in prison for more than 30 years gets NIS 12,000 ($3,360) per month. When they?re released, they get a grant and are promised a job at the Palestinian Authority. They get a military rank that?s determined according to the number of years they?ve served in jail.? The PA claims that the payments to terrorists? families are social welfare benefits to the needy are false. The Palestinians? own budgetary documents, clearly state that these are salaries and not welfare payments.? Pray that all the nations than send money to the PA wake up to realise that they are supporting terrorism

5. PM Netanyahu: Israel Must Retain Control    Times of Israel News  May 30th

Prime Minister Netanyahu on Tuesday said that Israel must maintain its military control over the West Bank in the event of a peace agreement with the Palestinians. ?The idea that we can give up territory and achieve peace is not right,? Netanyahu said. “In order to assure our existence we need to have military and security control over all territory west of the Jordan [River],? he said, reaffirming his commitment to a policy that is rejected by Palestinians, who seek a full Israeli withdrawal from the territory. PM Netanyahu asserted the root of the conflict lies not with Israeli settlements in the West Bank, but rather in Palestinian intransigence regarding recognition of Jewish rights to any part of the land. ?It is not because of the territories and the settlements,? Netanyahu said, noting the history of conflict between Jews and Arabs in the area from 1920, long before the establishment of Israel in 1948 and the capture of the West Bank in 1967. “Even before 1967, the Arabs wanted to get rid of us from Tel Aviv, and after we pulled out of Gaza in 2005, they still want to get rid of us from Tel Aviv. When Israel proposed to the Palestinians that it relinquish all the territory they want as long as they give up on the so-called right of return for Palestinians who fled in 1948, ?they squirm in their seats and are not prepared to give an answer. The root of this problem was and still is that continued refusal by the Palestinians to recognize Israel as a the homeland of the Jewish people in any borders.Israeli seek peace, but the Palestinians are stuck in their attitude of ?not setting up a state but rather negating the existence of a state, the Jewish state. As soon as that is changed, then there is hope for peace, because you can?t build peace on a foundation of lies,? he said. Let’s pray that all of the world leaders take note of what PM Netanyahu has said.
