David’s Comment: The Temple Mount Flares Up Yet Again
2 Chronicles 7:16 I have chosen as sanctified this house that My Name shall dwell there forever
Since Jerusalem was destroyed in the year 70 AD. For 30 minutes the blue and white flag of Israel flew over the holiest site for the Jewish people, and for the God of the Jewish people. However the White House called the Israeli PM. The flag was removed and the Temple Mount handed over to the Wakf, a Jordanian Muslim organisation, and it has been under their control ever since. The Wakf are no friends of Israel or the Jewish people.
There are 2 mosques that sit on the Temple Mount. Last Friday, as many Muslims began special prayers, 3 Israeli Arab terrorists smuggled guns into the Temple compound and began shooting. They killed 2 Israeli border guards, who turned out to be Druze Arabs (descendants of Jethro). Israeli security guards killed the terrorists. They managed to get the agitated Muslim crowd under control, and closed the Temple Mount to everyone. They cancelled the rest of Friday prayer time, and then completely shut the site down for the rest of Friday and Shabbat. It was partially reopened on Sunday, with new and heightened security measures.
Naturally the Muslim crowd was very unhappy at not being able to pray in the mosques. Many Muslim nations accused Israel of inflaming the already tense situation in Jerusalem. A number of Muslim governments, including Jordan, praised the terror attack … declaring the 3 dead terrorists ‘;martyrs for Allah.’ There has been sporadic demonstrations and rioting in the vicinity of the Temple Mount all week, and more violence is expected this Friday.
What I am wanting to say here is this. The Creator of the Universe, the GOD of Israel, has appointed as His eternal address on Earth, this tiny piece of real estate. It is the very epicentre of the age old conflict between the Jews and the Muslims, and the problem is not going to go away before the Messiah returns. In fact it will continue to intensify, as the Kingdom of YHVH and the Kingdom of Darkness continue to build up to the final battle of this present age. This will usher in the return of Yeshua to rule and reign over His Father’s Kingdom, right here from the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. Psalm 2:6 …. I set my King on the holy hill of Zion
This war of the Kingdoms is no longer contained in the Middle East. This battle has infected almost every nation and much of the Church. The leaders of nations and leaders of the Church, have been deceived by the Devil into opposing the plans of God. In effect, they thus serve the purposes of Satan. There is no neutral or middle ground. Yeshua clearly stated that people are either with Him or against – no neutral !!! The Father has made it clear that He will judge the nations. He will also judge those who claim to serve Him, yet work against Him and His chosen nation. (Joel 3:1 – 3, Isaiah 60:12 & Jeremiah 30:11)
It comes as no surprise to many who are watching the End Times unfold, that the Temple Mount has once again become such a point of contention. In fact it is the main flash point in the Middle East and the fuse that will ignite World War 3. We may be very close to some dramatic events. In fact we may well be in a Jubilee year, the 3rd 50 year step since the Balfour Agreement in 1917. It was the Balfour Agreement which led to the State of Israel being resurrected in 1948, and the reunification of Jerusalem at the end of the Six Day War in 1967.
What leads us to believe this could be a Jubilee year is this … what has been taken is restored, as was the nation in 1948, and Jerusalem in 1967. Thinking about what should be restored now (if this is indeed a Jubilee year) …..what immediately comes to mind is full control of the Temple Mount. Of course whatever occurs to bring that about, will create a ‘tsunami’ sized reaction of political opposition and violence, most likely leading to a very serious war. Even if this scenario does not unfold this year, it is only a matter of time …. a question of when… not if !
The other interesting fact about the season we are now in is that the Jewish people call the next 3 weeks “Bein Hametzrim,” or the time of the “Dire Straits”. It is the 3 week period of time between the 17th of the month Tammuz and the 9th of the month of Av in the Hebraic calendar. At least 4 serious calamities have struck the Jewish people during this time frame.
- ? Moses destroyed the tablets of the Ten Commandments after descending Mount Sinai to find the people worshipping the golden calf instead of the LORD
- ? In 586 BC, the daily offerings in the First Temple ceased and then the Temple was destroyed by fire on the 9th of Av
- ? In 69 AD the walls of Jerusalem were breached by the Roman Empire, marking the beginning of the destruction and the end of the Second Temple in 70 AD.
- ? Just before the Bar Kokhba Revolt, a Roman military leader, Apostamos, set a Torah scroll on fire, destroying it, which started the trend of burning Jewish books and Torah scrolls right up until the Nazi era.
We surely are living in the End Times and the LORD is unravelling the mysteries of the words He spoke through the Hebrew prophets. Out part is to stay close to the LORD, be conscious of the signs of the times in which we live, be ready for all eventualities, and continue to work while it is still light because the night is coming.
The LORD bless you as you bless Israel by standing in defense of her right to exist on the land given to the Jewish people by the God of Israel. Lets pray that Israel will turn back to their God. Do not be silent, but share this with your fellow Christians, share it with your pastors, and with anyone you have a chance to speak to. Lets also pray for that breakthrough to the Muslims, and please remember to pray Divine protection for all of the soldiers in the IDF.
Shabbat Shalom …… David & Jose

1. Two Israeli Police Officers Killed in Terror Attack in Jerusalem
The two police officers shot dead in a terror attack at the Temple Mount complex in the Old City on Friday morning were identified as Haiel Sitawe and Kamil Shnaan, both hailing from Druze Arab villages in northern Israel. Just after 7:00 a.m. on Friday, three Arab Israeli terrorists opened fire on a group of police officers standing just outside the Temple Mount compound near the Old City?s Lions Gate. Sitawe and Shnaan were hit and seriously wounded. A third officer was struck by shrapnel and suffered light injuries. The three terrorists behind the attack, who all came from the Arab city of Umm al-Fahm, fled back to the Temple Mount compound and were shot dead by other police officers on the scene, a police spokesperson said. Sitawe and Shnaan were treated by medics from the Magen David Adom ambulance service and taken to Jerusalem?s Hadassah Hospital on Mt. Scopus, where they were pronounced dead. Pray for the families of the 2 slain Druze Arab policemen.
2. Jerusalem on Edge Following Friday’s Terror Attack Israel Today News July 16th
There was bolstered security in and around Jerusalem’s Old City just days after two Border Police officers were shot dead by Muslim terrorists following prayers atop the Temple Mount. Recently, Jordan, which administers the Temple Mount, complained about Israel installing metal detectors at the entrances to the holy site. So, Israel removed them. And that allowed three terrorists from the northern Israel town of Umm al-Fahm to attend Friday Islamic prayers armed with guns, which they used to murder the Israeli policemen as they departed the time of worship. Both of the victims were identified as members of Israel’s Druze minority. Israeli responded by closing the Temple Mount completely for the first time since 1969, reinstalling the metal detectors and arresting three Islamic Trust (Waqf) officials who are believed to have facilitated or encouraged the attack. Israel was scheduled to reopen the Temple Mount to Muslim worshippers on Sunday afternoon following a fierce outcry from the Islamic world. Ignoring almost completely the unprovoked attack on the policemen, Muslim leaders from Israel and from across the Arab world accused the Jewish state of moving the region closer to religious conflict. Muslims claim that Israel will use such incidents to “Judaize” the Temple Mount. But PM Netanyahu reiterated that he will maintain the status quo and continue to prevent Jews from praying at Judaism’s holiest site, in accordance with Muslim demands. We need to pray that the LORD will accelerate the return of the complete Temple Mount to Israeli control.
3. Muslim Waqf Refuse to Co-operate With New Security Measures INN News July 16th
The Muslim Waqf, headed by the Mufti of Jerusalem, is refusing to cooperate with the new security procedures that police are seeking to institute on the Temple Mount following the murderous attack at the compound last Friday. Waqf officials announced that they would not pass through the electronic entrance gates, (magnometers, instruments used to detect the presence of metallic objects) set up by police at two of the entrances used by Muslims to enter the Temple Mount site. According to them, setting up the equipment and conditioning entry on a personal check constitutes a violation of the status quo on the Mount. Nevertheless, police say that over 200 Muslims have entered the Temple Mount so far, following Israel’s agreement to renew Muslim prayer on the site from noon. It will be noted that, in the days since the terror attack last week during which the 2 policemen were murdered, police have conducted extensive searches on the Temple Mount, where they have discovered much inciting material and items for use during riots. Again we need to pray that the full control of the Temple Mount will return to Israel.
4. Jordan’s Government Praises the Terrorists as Martyrs Times of Israel News July 17th
After Jordan?s King Abdullah II condemned the murder of two Israeli Border Police officers near the Temple Mount on Friday, some Jordanian lawmakers voiced support for the three murderers, praising them as ?martyrs?. On Saturday, Abdullah spoke with PM Netanyahu following the attack, and issued a condemnation of the murders. Less than a day later, however, the Jordanian parliament expressed support for the terrorists, praising them as ?martyrs?. The Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Jordanian Parliament?s lower chamber, hailed the terror attack during an address to the parliament. ?May Allah?s mercy be on our martyrs, who watered the holy soil.? ?Our heads are lifted up by the fighting of young Palestinians who are still fighting in the name of the people.? Dozens of lawmakers joined with Tarawneh in a prayer for the dead terrorists. ?My Allah have mercy on our young men, from the Jabarin family, that their relatives should receive praise and honor.? Thousands of Jordanian demonstrated in the capital, Amman, Saturday night, demanding their government expel Israel?s ambassador to Jordan. The protesters also insisted Jordan cancel its peace agreement with Israel and stop the normalization of relations with the Jewish state. Pray that the Israeli government does not give in or bow down to pressure from Jordan
5. Israeli Lawmaker: Wakf Control on the Temple Mount is Over World Israel News July 18th
The Jordanian Waqf?s de facto control over the Temple Mount came ?to an end last Friday,? Avi Dichter, Chairman of Israel’s Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, stated onTuesday. Dichter was specifically referring to Israel?s implementation of new security measures at the holy site, including the installment of metal detectors. The Waqf, Jordan?s Islamic Trust which manages religious affairs at the site, has been refusing to adhere to new security procedures introduced by the Israeli police following Friday?s the attack, in which three terrorists shot and murdered 2 Israeli officers. They called on other Muslim worshipers to follow suit, but hundreds nevertheless prayed at the holy site. Dichter called for a change to the current situation, in which Jews have no rights on the Tempe Mount. ?Regarding the Temple Mount, I can say that it?s a question of our policy at the site, which is unclear to the Palestinians, but is very clear to us,? he said, pointing to the fact that the Palestinians have changed their propaganda strategy. In the past, they have run the campaign ?al-Aqsa is in danger,? but ?now they have changed the campaign to ?the Temple Mount equals al-Aqsa.? They are trying to create a situation in which it is problematic for Jews to go up to the Temple Mount. Al-Aqsa Mosque is considered the third-holiest place in Islam, so just as non-Muslims are not allowed to enter Mecca or Medina, they want to create the same situation on the Temple Mount, But the Mount will remain under the control of the Israel Police,? Dichter said. He said the police were capable and well experienced in carrying out such security tasks, and rejected the notion of a foreign force securing the site. ?In no situation will an international force be inside the sovereign area of the State of Israel. The state knows how to take care of sensitive people,? Dichter said. He charged the Waqf with trying to assert its authority and promote its agenda of control on the Temple Mount. ?There will be no international force here, not UNIFIL and not any other force, apart from the State of Israel,? Dichter said. On Monday, Arabs clashed with israeli security guards just outside the Temple Mount and several of the rioters were reportedly wounded in the process. Pray that Israel does indeed take back full control over the Temple Mount
6. Will Israel Cave in On New Security Measures INN News July 20th
Will Israel remove the magnetometers at the entrance to the Temple Mount as a result of international pressure? The London-based Arabic-language Al-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper reported on Thursday that the United States is proposing a compromise, whereby the magnetometers will be removed from the entrance to the compound, but visitors will be continue to be carefully inspected by Israeli security guards before being allowed to enter. The newspaper quoted senior Palestinian Arab officials who claimed that there was agreement on their part to inspect suspicious persons only, but who stressed they would not agree to a situation in which every Arab entering the Temple Mount complex would be inspected. The latest tensions on the Temple Mount began after Israel announced a series of security measures following last week’s terrorist attack at the compound, in which two Druze Border Police officers were murdered.
The security measures included advanced metal detectors which are selective in which metals they react to, and additional security cameras around the entrances to the holy site. These security measures prompted an outcry from the PA, the Jordanian Wakf, and the Jordanian government, which demanded a return to the status quo. In addition, Arab rioters attacked security forces and civilian cars in eastern Jerusalem, injuring 2 police officers and at least one Jewish civilian. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu made clear on Wednesday that the security measures on the Temple Mount will continue, but added that discussions are being held on how to do this optimally. Meanwhile, the controversy over the magnetometers within the defense establishment is ongoing. The Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) argues that there is no need for the magnetometers, while the police claim that they are necessary in order to assist in the prevention of terror. On Wednesday night, the White House expressed “concern” over the situation on the Temple Mount. ?The United States is very concerned about tensions surrounding the Temple Mount/Haram Al-Sharif, a site holy to Jews, Muslims, and Christians, and calls upon the State of Israel and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to make a good faith effort to reduce tensions and to find a solution that assures public safety and the security of the site and maintains the status quo,? said a statement from the White House press secretary. ?The United States will continue to closely monitor the developments,? it added. We need to pray that Israel will not allow other nations to affect Israeli affairs.
7. Israel Security Preparing for Massive Riots in Jerusalem on Friday INN News July 20th
On Wednesday night the mufti of Jerusalem and the heads of the Waqf called on all imams in Jerusalem and the surrounding areas to not hold Friday prayers in their mosques but to come to Al-Aqsa for prayer instead. This unprecedented appeal could bring tens of thousands of worshippers to the Temple Mount compound. The army and police are preparing for confrontations in Jerusalem, the West Bank and Gaza over the escalating tensions. The police said they are working under the assumption that the metal detectors will not be removed before Friday and are expecting broad disturbances at the site. The Jeruslaem police will be reinforced by thousands of special police forces. The army is also preparing for the possibility of confrontations in both the West Bank and Gaza. The army announced that five battalions will be on alert throughout Friday should they be required. The White House voiced its concerns regarding the tensions on Wednesday night, calling on Israel and Jordan to find a solution to the strained situation at the Temple Mount. Pray that Israeli security will do whatever is necessary to maintain order near the Temple Mount
