Guest Comment: Israel – God’s Focus in Prophecy and Redemption

by Errol Francis

Isaiah 44:21-22 Remember these, O Jacob, And Israel, for you are My servant; I have formed you, you are My servant; O Israel, you will not be forgotten by Me! I have blotted out, like a thick cloud, your transgressions, And like a cloud, your sins. Return to Me, for I have redeemed you.”

I very much agree with David in his recent articles: that the time of Yeshua’s return is getting closer and that the restoration of Israel and of Jerusalem as its’ recognised Capital City, are key signs of that. Some prophecy teachers in the 1950s claimed that from the Independence of Israel in 1948: that Jesus would return within 40 years, a generation span from 1948.  And just prior to that: the Land would be divided and Jerusalem invaded with much death and destruction. These last two events have not happened (not yet anyway). In fact many more positive things have happened: the unification of Jerusalem and the return of embassies there. The declaration of sovereignty over the Golan Heights and peace treaties with Jordan and Egypt. In the 1990s The PA and the UN tried to remove the settlements in Judea and Samaria – the heart land of Biblical Israel, but they failed to do so! Islamic terror in the EU (France at least) is prompting more Jewish people to make Aliyah, Bible prophecy indicates that there is a time of world trouble ahead and that Israel will be challenged. But there are also prophecies that Israel will survive and that they will have their hearts opened to Yeshua before He returns. Recent history, now shows that, not all of the Church, is captive to either of: Replacement Theology or Liberal Apostasy. We should be looking for all of these following things.

The Gospel of the Kingdom being proclaimed to the final groups of all nations (Matt 24:14).  The Jewish people to receive the New Covenant in Messiah’s Blood (Jeremiah 31:31-24) and gain the national out-pouring of His Sprit on them. (Zechariah 12:10). Regarding, The Restoration of ALL Things, which must include restoration within both Israel and the Church. Some people look for a restored temple and a small but pure church (a remnant). I believe that there are two bigger issues: one is the end time harvest of souls– the multitudes of Revelation 7.

Then there is the unprecedented coming together in spiritual unity of the Jewish Messianic believers (in Yeshua) and the revived end time Church (the Ecclesia) which will be the full ‘One New Man’ in Messiah (Christ). (Ephesians 2:14-20). The One New Man has always existed in principle but many Messianics now believe it is becoming their reality. Is Zionism a righteous cause? By these two verses it absolutely is. Isaiah 51:11 So the ransomed of the LORD shall return, And come to Zion with singing, With everlasting joy on their heads. They shall obtain joy and gladness; Sorrow and sighing shall flee away.  Zechariah 8:3  “Thus says the LORD: ‘I will return to Zion, And dwell in the midst of Jerusalem. Jerusalem shall be called the City of Truth, The Mountain of the LORD of hosts, The Holy Mountain.’

When Yeshua returns He will return to Jerusalem, Jerusalem and its’ surrounds will be physically changed (updated) into three parts rather than West and East Jerusalem. (Revelation 16:18). And the nations will be judged ( Mathew 25: 31-46). There will be survivors from the nations, not everything will be destroyed and even some former enemies will survive, changed of course. (Zechariah 14:16) Look back to the quoted scripture at the top here: Israel’s sins are already forgiven, the Jewish people just have to accept that this occurred at Calvary with the sacrifice of Yeshua. I do not see that Jews will have to abandon being Jewish or desert their culture if it is Biblically acceptable. Or that Christians from the many different kinds of denominations that exist today (will be compelled into adopting any one of the existing models, rather than becoming more conformed to the image of Yeshua (Rom 12:2). When we are changed (1 Corinthians 15:52) we all will reflect Yeshua Himself: there will be a new unity with a supernatural “Life Force” led and

exemplified by the physically present Messiah. Psalm 137:5-6 If I forget you, O Jerusalem, Let my right hand forget its skill. If I do not remember you, Let my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth: If I do not exalt Jerusalem Above my chief joy.

The LORD bless you as you bless Israel by standing in defense of her right to exist on all of the land given to the Jewish people by the GOD of Israel.  Please pray that all Israel will turn back to their GOD.  Do not be silent, but share this with your fellow Christians, share it with your pastors, and with anyone you have a chance to speak to. Lets also pray for a breakthrough to the Muslims, and please remember to pray Divine protection for all of the soldiers in the IDF.

This Week’s News Items

1. Israel Strikes Syria in Daytime Mission   Times of Israel News   Jan 20th

Syrian state media on Sunday accused Israel of conducting a rare daylight missile attack in and around Damascus, triggering the country?s air defenses. The Russian military, which is allied with Syrian dictator Assad, reiterated the Syrian claims, saying the incoming attack had been blocked by the country?s air defenses. Israel refused to comment on the reported strike. During the exchange, the Iron Dome missile defense system intercepted an incoming projectile from Syria, which was heading toward the northern Golan Heights, the Israel Defense Forces said. An army spokesperson said it was not immediately clear if the incoming projectile was a retaliatory attack or a Syrian air defense missile that was heading toward a populated area. Syrian media said the targets of strike were in Damascus International Airport and in the town of al-Kiswah, south of the capital, both of which have been hit by Israeli attacks in the past. The Israeli military said bases near al-Kiswah are used by pro-Iranian militias. An Iranian weapons depot at the airport was targeted in an airstrike a week and a half ago, Israel said. According to Syrian media, approximately 10 missiles were fired at targets near the airport and in al-Kiswah. ?Warehouses containing weapons for Syrian regime ally Hezbollah and Iranian fighters are located in that area,? said the head of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights war monitoring. Pray that Israel continues to attack and successfully destroy any Iranian threat to Israel’s safety.

2. Israel Attacks Iranian Force in Syria

Missiles fired towards the northern Golan Heights were intercepted by the Iron Dome missile defense system on Sunday afternoon, the Israeli military said. It happened just shortly after the Syrian regime had accused Israel of carrying out airstrikes in southern Damascus on Sunday morning, according to the official Syrian news agency SANA. The Israeli attack triggered Syrian air defense systems. ?A military source said that our air defenses had successfully engaged an Israeli aerial attack targeting the southern region and prevented it from achieving any of its objectives,?  SANA reported. It is rare for such strikes to occur during daylight hours. Local Syrian media said that the target of the strike was in the town of al-Kiswah, south of Damascus. Israel claims that bases near al-Kiswah are being used by pro-Iranian militias. In Sunday?s attack, approximately 10 missiles were fired at targets in al-Kiswah. Social media said that the airstrike followed just hours after an Iranian cargo plane had touched down in the Damascus International Airport, and that another flight from Iran had been on its way to Syria on Sunday afternoon but ?turned back right after Israeli airstrikes.? Israel has vowed repeatedly to fight against Iran?s presence and influence in Syria. Pray that Israel is successful in preventing any further Iranian build up in Syria or Lebanon.

3. Israel Strikes Syria Again   World Israel News   Jan 21st

In a very unusual move, the Israeli military issued a statement saying it was attacking Iranian military targets in Syria. It also warned Syrian authorities not to retaliate against Israel. The army issued the statement early Monday, hours after Israel carried out a rare daylight air raid near the Damascus international airport. ?We have started striking Iranian targets in Syrian territory. We warn the Syrian Armed Forces against attempting to harm Israeli forces or territory,? the IDF stated. Until now Israel has largely refrained from public admissions of military operations in neighboring Syria. The attack was in response to the Iranian missile that was intercepted over the Golan Heights  following the strike near the Damascus airport on Sunday. ?We have a permanent policy: To strike at the Iranian entrenchment in Syria and hurt whoever tries to hurt us. Pray that Iran is not so foolish as to open a full blown conflict with Israel.

4. Syria Death Count Rises to 21   World Israel News    Jan 22nd

The death toll from Israel?s latest airstrikes on military targets in Syria rose from 11 to 21, according to a war monitor, the AFP news agency reorted on Tuesday. The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights added that most of those killed were Iranians. The monitor said that strikes carried out late Sunday and early Monday hit several positions and assets held by Iran and its allies in Syria. There are 15 foreigners among the dead, including 12 from the Iranian forces. Six Syrians from the regime were also killed. Israel said that it stepped up its latest air barrage after an Iranian-made surface-to-surface missile was fired at Israel from Syria by members of Iranian Quds Force on Sunday even as skiers watched from below at the Mount Hermon resort on the Israeli side of the Golan Heights. The Israeli Iron Dome defense system intercepted the incoming Iranian missile. The missile attack was itself a reprisal for a previous Israeli airstrike on the area near Damascus airport targeting Iranian military supplies. Pray that this increase in military activity between Israel and Iran will not lead to a full scale war

5. Syria Threatens to Attack Ben Gurion Airport    Israel Today News  Jan 23rd

Syria’s ambassador to the UN on Tuesday told the world body that his nation (presumably with the help of its Iranian allies) would attack Ben Gurion International Airport if Israel didn’t stop bombing targets in the war-torn country. “Syria will practice its legitimate right of self-defense and respond to the Israeli aggression on Damascus International Airport in the same way on Tel Aviv airport,” The Syrian Ambassador warned members of the UN Security Council, insisting that they “stop the Israeli repeated aggressions on the Syrian Arab republic territories.” Earlier this week, Israel carried out a series of airstrikes against Iranian military targets near Damascus. The Israeli strikes have been largely carried out with tacit Russian approval and a clear green light from the Trump Administration. It is unlikely that Syria itself has the ability to make good on its threat, but Iran and Hezbollah do. And while both certainly know that an attack on Ben Gurion Airport would mark a major escalation and elicit a crushing Israeli response, some fear they might be crazy enough to disregard the consequences. Pray that Syria does not even attempt to carry out this threat which would biring a disasterous Israeli response on their own country and kill many of their people

6. PM Netanyahu Re-establishes Diplomatic Relations with Muslim Nation of Chad   Times of Israel News   Jan 20th

Prime Minister Netanyahu and Chadian President D?by announced on Sunday, the re-establishment of diplomatic relations, bringing the number of countries that Israel has formal ties with to a record of 161. ?Chad is a very important country, and very important for Israel,? PM Netanyahu said during a joint appearance with D?by at the presidential palace in Chad. ?There is a lot that we can do together. We discussed ways to deepen our cooperation in every field, beginning with security, but also agriculture, food, water, energy, health and many more,? he added, speaking in English. We are being welcomed here respectfully, just as we welcomed President Deby with great respect in Israel,? he said. ?Israel is breaking into the Muslim world. This is the result of a great effort during the last few years. We?re making history, and we?re turning Israel into a rising world power.? Chad severed ties with Israel in 1972 due to pressure from Libyan strongman Muammar Gaddafi. Pray that more Muslim nations re-establish diplomatic and trade relations with Israel

7. Bomb Explodes Beside $500,000 Mercedes Car of Abbas Rival    Times of Israel News    Jan 24th

A bomb reportedly detonated recently next to the luxury car of US-based Palestinian pharma billionaire Adnan Mjalli,  Israel?s Channel 13 news reported Wednesday, saying the move was seen as a warning to him to stay out of a race to succeed the 83-year-old Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. Mjalli was not in the vehicle at the time of the incident, that reportedly occurred in the northern West Bank town of Tubas some two months ago. The report showed pictures of the charred interior of the vehicle, which it said was a privately imported Mercedes valued at $500,000.
