David’s Comment: Most of Christendom is in Need of a ‘REBOOT’ Romans 11:17-18  …. you being a wild olive, have been grafted in amongst them to become a partaker of the richness of the root  …… you do not support the root, the root supports you. J

Josie and I are still in the United Kingdom for a 10 day speaking tour. We began in Scotland last Friday to lead a Passover seder at the Taymouth Castle. I have to say that this very impressive castle that dates back to the13th century has to be the most amazing venue we have ever ministered at, and the Passover which went very well, was followed by a full day conference the next day. On Sunday morning we were invited to speak at the Resurrection Sunday morning meeting of a small fellowship in Aberfeldy, a town near the castle. In the worship time I believe I received a word from the Lord. It was just one word – REBOOT. As I shared with the people at the caste meeting and with the people at the Sunday service, it was very special weekend as Passover and Easter, which can be celebrated up to a month apart, were being celebrated at the same weekend this year. But for most Christians apart from the timing, there was little else in common between the celebrations in the Jewish and Christian worlds. For most Christians there is no connection to what we do as Believers, to Israel, the Jewish people and the Feasts of the LORD. The reality is that the opposite is true – as we read in the opening verse, truly born-again Christians  are grafted into the Olive tree ‘Israel,’ and are, or should be ‘fellow-citizens’ – Ephesians 2:19.

As I wrote in my comment of December 28th 2018,  there are 3 serious disconnects in the world today, and a large part of my mission is to be a ‘bridge-builder’ to reconnect these separated groups. In speaking to some of the people at the meetings, the separation between most Christians and the Biblical roots of the faith is extreme. Not just that, but because of that separtion, most of the Western nations that once called themselves ‘a Christian nation’, no longer see themselves as such. Josie and I are fully aware that most Western nations no longer sanctify Christian Holy days, and most don’t even like to use the names of Christmas and Easter, but Josie and I were shocked to see that here in the UK, on the day that the Son of GOD died for their sins, and on the day that He rose  from the dead, almost all businesses were open as usual. I remember that when we were much younger, businesses were closed on Sunday, Christmas and Easter. These were Holy days in most of the Western world. Now for the majority of the population, there is almost no thought of the CREATOR or His Son on these days.

To qualify what I have just written, the Christian Holy days are not the right ones. Saturday is the true Sabbath – not Sunday, Yeshua was not born on December 25th, and ‘Easter’ is the name of a pagan goddess, Eostre,  the Anglo-Saxon goddess of spring and fertility. The question must be asked, “what on earth is most of the Church doing, calling the most Holy day on the Kingdom calendar by the name of a pagan goddess ?. Is it any wonder most of our nations have left ‘Christianity’ behind many decades ago. To punctuate my point I just received a news report that the official Twitter account of UK?s Labour Party displayed ignorance of basic Jewish history last Friday when it commemorated Passover with an image featuring a loaf of leavened bread. ?As Jewish people prepare for Passover,? the tweet began, ?we?re wishing everyone in the Jewish community chag sameach.? Beneath the friendly greeting was an image featuring a Star of David along with a chalice of wine and a fluffy, fully-leavened bread loaf. The famous painting of the Last Supper (the Lord celebrating Passover) by Leonardo da Vinci also features a loaf of risen bread in the centre of the table.

To use a parable from the computer world, the majority of the Western Church is suffering from a software ‘glitch.’ The general rule of thumb when experiencing computer or smartphone issues is turn it off and restart. Restarting the computer or phone is technically referred to as REBOOTING. Hence, the title of my comment this week. When it comes to Israel, the Torah, the Shabbat, the Feasts of the LORD, and a number of other Biblical issues, the Church is in need of a REBOOT. I also just received an excellent commentary about the fire at Notre Dame. At the end of the article there is a quote from American columnist, Dennis Prager: “The symbolism of the burning of Notre Dame Cathedral, the most renowned building in Western civilization, the iconic symbol of Western Christendom, is hard to miss. “It is as if God Himself wanted to warn us in the most unmistakable way that Western Christianity is burning — and with it, Western civilization.”  Another American author, Rod Dreher: “This catastrophe in Paris today is a sign to all of us Christians, and a sign to all people in the West, especially those who despise the civilization that built this great temple to its God on an island in the Seine where religious rites have been celebrated since the days of pagan Rome. It is a sign of what we are losing, and what we will not recover, if we don’t change course now.”  For the moment, nothing indicates that France and Western Europe will change course. Only a REBOOT will save the Western Church and Western civilzation.  Click Here if you have not read my 30 page booklet on the The Restoration of the Church)

The LORD bless you as you bless Israel by standing in defense of her right to exist on all of the land given to the Jewish people by the GOD of Israel.  Please pray that all Israel will turn back to their GOD.  Do not be silent, but share this with your fellow Christians, share it with your pastors, and with anyone you have a chance to speak to. Lets also pray for a breakthrough to the Muslims, and please remember to pray Divine protection for all of the soldiers in the IDF.

Shabbat Shalom  …..  David & Josie h

This Week’s News Items

1. Hizbollah Leader Threatening War this Summer    World Israel News   April 21

Hizbollah leader Sheik Hassan Nasrallah is warning of a war with Israel in the summer, and is worried that he might be killed. Nasrallah told Hizbollah commanders: ?The possibility of a war with Israel is very high this summer and I may no longer be with you.? The Hizbollah chief is quoted as warning that Israel could be ready to attack ?with the objective of removing the threat on its borders once and for all.? Nasrallah cautioned that ?our people should know and?be prepared for the worse-case scenario.? In December, Israel launched an operation to neutraise a number of attack tunnels that had been built along the Israel / Lebanon border. The U.N. backed up the Israeli position that the tunnels were a violation of an agreement reached ending the 2006 war between Israel and Hizbollah. Israel launched the 2006 military campaign after two of its soldiers were abducted and killed along the border. Hibollah believes that Israel would evacuate its communities located near the Lebanese border before the launching the next military operation in order to prevent the possibility of kidnappings. Magnier reports that Nasrallah believes that the U.S., Britain, and Arab states could take part in the next conflict. Despite its terror activity, Hizbollah is a member of the Lebanese government. Pray that Israel will pre-emptively prevent any kind of attack from Hizbollah forces in the north

2.  PM Netanyahu Begins to Build His New Government   Israel Today News   April 21

Benjamin Netanyahu has been officially tapped to establish Israel’s next government. There really was no other alternative, as much as President Rivlin might have liked to spurn his long-time Likud rival by giving “Blue and White” faction head Benny Gantz the first crack at cobbling together a ruling coalition. Netanyahu’s Likud and Gantz’s Blue and White both won 35 seats in the recently-concluded Knesset election. Following the final tally, Rivlin met with representatives of all the factions that won seats, and very quickly made clear that most of them preferred four more years with Netanyahu in the prime minister’s chair. Gantz simply wouldn’t be able to put together a coalition of any more than 55 seats, while Netanyahu’s already got 65 that are willing to join his government, provided he meet their demands. And that’s what’s got some Israelis concerned. What will Netanyahu need to promise the ultra-Orthodox parties, for instance, to bring their combined 16 seats into his coalition? An Israeli social media campaign has been calling on Netanyahu to this time think outside the box, and shun the ultra-Orthodox and more radical right-wing parties in favor of a national unity coalition with Blue and White. Rivlin gave further voice to that desire by many “secular” Israelis when he told Netanyahu that the people want him to heal national rifts and bring unity, rather than facilitate further division. But the representatives of Blue and White made abundantly clear in their meeting with President Rivlin that the faction absolutely will not serve in a government headed by Netanyahu, and instead prefers to act as a hostile opposition. Pray that PM Netanyahu will be able to form the new govenment without giving into the demands of the orthodox parties

3. President Trump’s Peace Plan will Meet Most of Israel’s Demands    Israel Today News  April 21st

There were those who were concerned that after recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, moving the US Embassy here, and giving a thumbs-up to Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights, President Trump was going to require some pretty big concessions of the Jewish state in his soon-to-be-released scheme for Middle East peace. France’s outgoing ambassador to the US, Gerard Araud, signaled last week that the Jewish state has no need to worry on that front. In an interview Araud acknowledged that he doesn’t know the details of Trump’s plan, rumored to be a full 50 pages long, but that he does know it will be “very close to what the Israelis want.” Days earlier, a senior US official believed to be Middle East envoy Jason Greenblatt was cited by Israel Channel 12 News as hinting that the term “two-state solution” won’t be part of Trump’s plan. This official noted that since Israelis and Palestinians understand the term differently, it was pointless to use it as the basis for a peace agreement. Araud, who previously served as France’s ambassador to Israel, said that Trump’s “Deal of the Century” was almost certainly “doomed to fail.” The French ambassador praised Trump and his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, for thinking outside the box in coming up with their plan, but said that both men had gravely underestimated the Palestinians’ willingness to choose “suicide” over a more reasonable outcome that doesn’t meet all their demands. The PA leadership has already rejected Trump’s offering before it’s even been released. That really shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, considering that Yasser Arafat previously turned down a final status agreement offered by former-US President Clinton and then-Israeli PM Ehud Barak that met 95 percent of Palestinian demands, including control over large parts of eastern Jerusalem. Pray that this projected outcome the Trump peace plan will become the reality.

4. UK Jewish Brother & Sister Murdered In Sri Lanka Terror Attacks       Times of Israel News    April 25th

Heartfelt tributes were made in Parliament today to two Jewish siblings who were among those murdered in the Easter Sunday terror attacks in Sri Lanka. Speaking in the House of Lords, Lord Leigh of Hurley paid his respects to Amelie, 15, and Daniel Linsey, 19, two members of Westminster synagogue, of which he is the president. The brother and sister were among the eight Brits who perished in the coordinated bombing attacks which claimed more than 350 lives. Lord Leigh told the House: ?While the intended target of this atrocity were clearly meant to be Christian, the terrorists? bombs did not discriminate. The Linsey family were members of my synagogue They shared the same classes as my children. Amelie celebrated her batmitzvah last March, reading with poise, maturity and warmth from our Torah scrolls.? He added: ?Daniel was especially interested in Jewish festivals. He came to our synagogue before Purim? to help our staff setting up for the evening festivities. We have pledged as a community to offer our love and support to the Linsey family and do everything we can every step of the way. The Jewish community is used to counselling mourners who have been affected by the terrorists? bomb, and this is another chapter in this sad and sorry book.? Pray for the family and friends will find their Messiah in the midst of their grief

5, New York Times Article:  Jesus was as “Palestinian”   United With Israel News    April 24th

A New York Times article claiming that Jesus ?was most likely a Palestinian man with dark skin? is generating a fierce push-back from the Jewish community. The executive director of Boston?s Jewish Community Relations Council tweeted, ?Important to point out that no, Jesus did not identify as Palestinian. He was a Judean Jew and for him, the term Palestine was that of the Roman occupier.?  A professor of Jewish history at Yeshiva University, responded on the Times comments page that ?for sure? Jesus ?was a youngish Jewish man? who ?looked like other Jews of his place and time.? Another Jewish Times reader responded in the comments section, ?I am amazed that the author of this article cannot simply state that Jesus was a Jew. He uses the anachronistic term ?Palestinian.? During Jesus? lifetime the Romans called the province which they controlled ?Judea.? Later they renamed it ?Syria Palestina.? Referring to Jesus as ?Palestinian? is simply misleading in the context of his era.?  journalist with the Jewish Chronicle in London described the ?Jesus was a Palestinian? claim as ?idiocy? and ?deliberate historical revisionism designed to deny the Jewish connection to the Holy Land.? An official at the Simon Wiesenthal Center, said  the claim Jesus was a Palestinian is a ?grotesque insult.? The Journal observed this claim was being made not only by the Times, but also by a Muslim-American Democratic congresswoman who supports the movement to boycott, divest from, and impose economic sanctions (BDS) on Israel ? Ilhan Omar. Noah Pollak, in a tweet cited by The Daily Wire, called the Times article ?crazy.? Pollak insisted, ?Jesus was not an Arab.? Pray that more Jewish people will come to the revelation that Yeshua was not only Jewish, but also that He is the Messiah of Israel

6. Israel Ranked as 8th Most Influential Country in the World    Jerusalem Post   April 22nd

USA News & World Report has ranked Israel as the world?s eighth-most influential country in the magazine?s 2019 version of its annual list. The report describes Israel as ?the only Jewish nation in the world, a small country on the eastern shore of the Mediterranean Sea? that has had a large influence on global affairs. For its relatively small size, the country has played a large role in global affairs,? the article said. ?The country has a strong economy, landmarks of significance to several religions and strained relationships with many of its Arab neighbors.? The rankings for ?Most Influential Country? are based on ?a global perceptions-based survey,? the magazine said, ?and countries are ranked based on the highest scores among more than 11,000 informed elites in a compilation of five country attributes: leader, connected to the rest of the world, influential culture, politically influential and strong international alliances.? Israel came in ahead of several influential countries including Canada, Australia, and India. The United States, Russia, and China dominated the top three spots. Lets pray that Israel’s world ranking will continue to improve until it becomes No 1

7. US Messianic Jews Invited to President Trump’s Passover Seder     JNN News April 22nd

Messianic Jewish leaders were invited to participate in a recent pro-Israel event hosted at US President Donald Trump?s Mar-a-Lago home in South Florida. The American Pro-Israel PAC,  new pro-Israel Christian initiative, brought together over 300 influential Evangelical Christians, as well as traditional and Messianic Jews. According to Joel Chernoff, Executive Director of the Messianic Alliance for Israel Advocacy, Messianic Jews played a major role in the program, which featured Jonathan Cahn as one of the speakers. ?To my surprise, there was great interest in who we were and even awareness of our efforts with a One State Solution (OSS) Bill we are introducing to Congress,? Chernoff said. The Messianic plan includes financial incentives for potential host countries to absorb Palestinians willing to leave Gaza and the biblical heartlands. Several members of the President?s Evangelical Council were present to promote the new Christian pro-Israel organization. ?Promises were made to ‘walk’ the OSS into the President Trump to make sure he understands it and has it at the ready for his soon-to-be-revealed Peace Plan,? Chernoff said. ?Many great new friends were made that can help us advance our advocacy efforts on behalf of the State of Israel and our Jewish people in general,? he continued. ?One in particular was the CEO of the powerful Friends of the IDF charity here in the US.? Chernoff, who is also General Secretary of the Messianic Jewish Alliance of America, believes that as the Messianic community seeks to serve God and the Jewish people, God will lift the Messianic Jewish community onto the world stage as it relates to Israel and the spiritual restoration of the Jewish people. Pray that the Messianic Jewish community in Israel and in the nations becomes accepted as a legitimate part of the Jewish community.
