David’s Comment: The Drums of War Are Getting Louder – Time to Raise the Level of Prayer
Isaiah 62:6 – 7 I have placed watchmen on your walls Jerusalem – they shall not be silent. You who mention My name, give Me no rest until I make Jerusalem a praise in all the Earth
The comment I wrote on February 16th this year was titled “The Drums of War are Beating Again.” International events of the last 10 days have inspired me to use the same theme for this week’s comment, as the drums of war are indeed getting louder, almost by the day. The poisoning of a former Russian spy and his daughter in the UK 3 weeks ago, and the widely accepted accusation that Russia is responsible, has led to a major deterioration in diplomatic relations between Russia and the Western nations who are holding President Putin responsible. Some political commentators are even calling it a “new Cold War.” Even though President Trump is doing his best to preserve good relations with President Putin, the US relationship with Russia has been extremely strained by the Russian attempt to influence the outcome of the 2016 US elections.
The USA and Iranian leaders continue to trade accusations, insults and threats over the controversial Iranian Nuclear Program deal that Barack Obama brokered and signed. Added to that Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu continues to claim that the US agreement with Iran has the potential to be disasterous for Israel and other nations in the Middle East. Saudi Arabia and a number of other Arab states are in agreement with PM Netanyahu and President Trump in regards to Iran not being allowed to have nuclear weapons. PM Netanyahu also openly accuses Iran of financially backing and supplying arms and training personnel to Hamas, Hizbollah and other terrorist groups, as they do their best to destroy Israel. Iran and Israel also continue to trade accusations, insults and threats of military action against each other.
The 7 year old civil war in Syria continues to threaten stability in the entire region. The US and Israel accuse Russia and Iran of backing the ruling regime of President Assad, who is once again being accused of once again using chemical weapons against his own people, killing more than 200. As always Assad is denying the accusation, and Russia is saying that there is no evidence of chemicals being used, but the USA and most other Western leaders are saying that this is the last straw for the Syrian leader.
A day after news broke about the chemical attack, Israeli Air Force jets fired 8 missiles at (an Iranian) base in Syria, causing significant damage and killed a number of Iranian technicians. Israel has taken similar action against Iranian backed military sites in Syrian on several previous occasions. President Putin is reported to be very angry with Israel for taking this action without informing the Russians. As I write this comment President Trump advised the Russians that the US will be firing missiles at targets in Syria and the Russians responded saying that they will shoot down all missiles fired at Syria. That could lead to a war between the USA & Russia which could well lead to World War 3.
The only bright light on the international horizon is the upcoming meeting between President Trump and the Nth Korean leader Kim Jong Un in May. If the 2 leaders succeed in coming to some sort of agreement concerning Nth Korea’s nuclear disarmament, then at least the threat of war, even a limited nuclear conflict, will be significantly reduced, which of course is good news for the whole world. That leaves the insane situation in the Middle East as the biggest threat to world peace at this time.
That brings us back to Israel and the urgent need for increased prayer and intercession. As the celebration of Israel’s 70th birthday gets closer – April 19th according to the Hebrew calendar and May 14th on the Gregorian calendar, I am sure the activity in the spiritual realm is becoming more intense. The Kingdom of YHVH is growing in excitement of the celebrations, but the Kingdom of Darkness must surely becoming more agitated and frantic to stop it and bring about Israel’s destruction. The planned opening of the new US embassy in Jerusalem on May14th can only increase the activity and intensity in both kingdoms.
The violent Hamas backed demonstrations that have been taking place in Gaza over the last 2 weeks and are planned to continue at least until May 14th. As the Israeli army and Air Force does its very best to protect Israel’s borders from infiltration by terrorists intent on killing innocent Israeli citizens, while at the same time doing it best not to harm people in Gaza who are not a threat to Israel, world opinion continues to turn against Israel and favor the enemy of the Kingdom of YHVH.
If you are seeing the prophetic significance of what I have written above, there are several responses that should be automatic in your life ……
1/ An increase in your love for, and solidarity with Israel
2/ Increased boldness to speak up to defend Israel to family, friends, people at work, and people in your church, even the leaders if necessary
3/ Most importantly a significant increase in your prayer and intercession for Israel and the Jewish people – here are some prayer point to assist you

Do not be silent, but share this with your fellow Christians, share it with your pastors, and with anyone you have a chance to speak to. Lets also pray for a breakthrough to the Muslims, and please remember to pray Divine protection for all of the soldiers in the IDF.
Shabbat Shalom …… David & Josie
Please continue to pray for Divine and Angelic protection over the IDF soldiers and civilans near the border with Gaza as more violent protests are planned for the weekend
1. Another Day of Riots on Israel / Gaza Border INN News April 8th
Thousands of Gazan rioters burned tires, threw Molotov cocktails and carry out terror attacks while attempting to infiltrate Israel on Friday as part of the latest round of protests and clashes on the Gaza-Israel border. ?Over the past hour, rioters have attempted to damage and cross the security fence under the cover of smoke from their burning tires. They also attempted to carry out terror attacks & hurl of explosive devices & firebombs,? the IDF Spokesperson Unit said late Friday afternoon. According to the IDF, which has declared the immediate area a closed military zone, Hamas has been attempting to create a ?war zone? in the region with protests in five locations along the Gaza-Israel border. The IDF has so far thwarted the infiltration attempts and is responding with riot dispersal means, including water cannons to put out the fires, a huge fan to disperse the smoke and live fire in accordance with rules of engagement. Observers say that this week?s protests are significantly smaller than last week, with only an estimated 10,000 protestors as opposed to last week?s estimated 30,000 protestors. e UN Secretary-General urged Israel to exercise ?extreme caution?. Meanwhile, the White House, while urging the Gazans to protest peacefully and to stay at least 500 meters from the Israeli border, also condemned Hamas leaders who they accused of using the protests to spread violence. ?We condemn leaders and protestors who call for violence or who send protestors ? including children ? to the fence, knowing that they may be injured or killed. Instead, we call for a renewed focus by all parties on finding solutions to the dire humanitarian challenges facing Gazans,? said Jason Greenblatt, President Trump?s Mideast envoy. Pray that these riots continue to be reduces each week as the demonstrators realise that they are risking their lives for nothing
2. Three Gazans Break Through Israel Border World Israel News April 8th
Three Palestinian suspects breached the security fence along the Israel-Gaza border as violence continued throughout the day on Sunday. Violence along the Israel-Gaza border continued Sunday afternoon as Hamas terrorists opened fire on IDF troops, forcing Israel to respond. No injuries were reported on the Israeli side. It is unclear if there were any casualties among the Palestinians. Also, three suspects breached the security fence before backtracking to the Gaza side. The IDF fired at them in response. The army said it was investigating the incident. Pray that the IDF is able to keep the border fully sealed and any attempts to cross over will fail
3. PM Netanyahu Responds to Gaza Demonstrations Israel Today News April 8th
In most Western countries, a demonstration that utilizes Nazi imagery would never be characterized as “peaceful” in nature because, well, the Nazi agenda is anything but peaceful. So, one must wonder why the international mainstream media is busy describing the Palestinian demonstrations along the Gaza security fence in such terms. Forget the thousands of burning tires, the hurling of stones and firebombs and the underreported use of guns and makeshift explosives. The fact that those participating in Friday’s Gaza riot flew a flag with a swastika on it should tell one everything he or she needs to know about the nature of this “peaceful demonstration.” But, just in case the message was lost in translation, Israel Prime Minister Netanyahu clarified: “I salute the soldiers of the IDF who keep us safe?from those who pretend to speak of human rights, while holding a Nazi flag. Here is the naked truth. They speak of human rights, but they really want to crush the Jewish state. We won?t let them. We?ll stand strong. We?ll keep our country safe.” The Nazi flag and the ideology behind it mean but one thing for both Israel and the Palestinian nationalist movement – the eradication of the Jewish people,” he added. Pray that the organisers of these riots are taken out of operation.
4. Moscow Turns Against Israel World Israel News April 10th
Moscow?s tone towards Israel turned hostile on Monday, April 9, after its claim that the IDF conducted an air strike on the Syrian T-4 airbase that morning. This claim was in itself a departure from the Kremlin?s long-standing line of letting Israel?s military operations pass without comment. Stepping away from this custom, the Russian Defence Ministry reported that two Israeli F-15 fighter jets carried out a guided missile air strike on the T-4 air base in Homs from Lebanese air space. Syria was said to have shot down 5 out of the 8 missiles fired, while three landed in the western part of the base. The Moscow statement stressed: ?There were no Russian advisers among those injured? 14 in all, according to some sources. It was next announced that the Russian defence and foreign ministries asked their Israeli counterparts to provide ?explanations? for air strikes on a ?Syrian military facility.? And then, Russian foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov [pictured above] told reporters that the ?air strike carried out on Sunday on a Syrian air base was a dangerous development.? Pray that Israel does not get caught up in the Syrian situation
5. Recent Israeli Strike on Syrian was Likely to Stop Iran Build-Up Jersualem News Service April 9th
The recent missile strike on a military airbase deep in the central Syrian desert looks like the latest installment in a long-standing Israeli campaign to police its red lines against highly dangerous developments to its north. Usually, such strikes are driven by incoming intelligence of threatening activity underway in Syria?activity that breaches Jerusalem?s ban on Iran from constructing military bases in Syria, from setting up weapons factories there and from using Syria as a transit zone for the trafficking of advanced arms to Hezbollah in Lebanon. Iran is keen to cash in on its heavy investment and bloody involvement on behalf of the survival of Syrian President Bashar Assad?s regime. That means attempting to expand the Iranian military presence on Syrian soil. Israel is determined to stop this at all costs. By chance or not, the strike also comes amid fallout from the Syrian government?s use of chemical weapons against rebel-held areas over the weekend, leading to warnings from President Donald Trump of likely military strikes in retaliation. Nevertheless, the precise reason that triggered the latest strike remains unknown and can probably only be found in classified intelligence reports. What is clear, however, is that over the past several years, Israel has reportedly carried out a series of strikes targeting the Iranian-led axis in Syria. If left unchecked, Iran would flood Syria with Shi?a militia groups and terrorist organizations, arm them with rockets and missiles, and set up terrorist cells. It would convert southern Syria into a new launch pad for attacks against Israel. Pray that Israel continues to take all action necessary to safeguard its soldiers and citizens
6. Israel Comes to a Standstill on Holocaust Memorial Day Times of Israel News April 12th
Israel came to a standstill at 10 a.m. Thursday as sirens wailed throughout the country in memory of the six million Jews murdered by the Nazis during World War II. Buses and cars halted on streets and highways as Israelis stepped out of their vehicles and stood with heads bowed. The sirens were followed by ceremonies marking Holocaust Remembrance Day in schools, public institutions and army bases. The traditional wreath-laying ceremony was held at Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum in Jerusalem, at the memorial to the Warsaw Ghetto uprising. At 11 a.m. the Knesset marked the day with its annual ceremony titled ?Unto Every Person There is a Name,? in which lawmakers recite names of victims of the Nazis for nearly two hours. A similar ceremony was also held at Yad Vashem. Meanwhile, the annual ?March of the Living? began in Poland at 2:30 p.m. Israel time, led by President Reuven Rivlin. IDF chief Gadi Eisenkot and the heads of Israel?s Mossad and Shin Bet security service also attended, along with over 10,000 people. They participated in a three-kilometer (two-mile) march from the Auschwitz concentration camp to the Birkenau extermination camp, which housed the gas chambers and crematoria. The Nazis killed 1.1 million people at the camp, mostly Jews, but also Russians, Gypsies, Poles and other nationalities. Decades after the liberation of the Nazi camps, the annual Holocaust Remembrance Day continues to be marked with solemnity in Israel, with restaurants, stores and entertainment centers closed and Holocaust-themed movies and documentaries broadcast on TV and radio. Most schools and many preschools hold official assemblies where students honor the dead and hear stories from survivors. Pray that the world never forgets the horrors of the Holocaust.
7. Arab Christians Get More Support From Israel Arab News April
In a recent column in the English-language Saudi daily Arab News, Christian Palestinian-American columnist Ray Hanania bemoaned the fact that Christian Arabs receive more support from Israel than from their fellow Arabs of the Muslim religion. As an example, he presented Arab Christian filmmaker Shady Srour, based in Nazareth, whose new film Holy Airis celebrated by Israelis but is likely to be disregarded by Arab activists because it was made with Israeli funding. The film is not political. It is about a fictional character who devises a scheme to sell bottled air from the Holy Land to enrich himself and pay his family?s bills. The message in Srour?s film is that money cuts across Middle East differences and brings Arabs and Israelis together.Arab activists, Hanania asserted, pay lip service to the idea that Christian and Muslim Arabs are brothers, but in practice they do not regard Christian Arabs as their equals, especially if these Christians challenge mainstream Arab principles such as supporting the anti-Israel BDS (Boycott, Divest and Sanctions) movement or rejecting normalization with Israel. ?Overall, I think Christian Arabs tend to get more support from Israel than they do from Arabs,? Hanania wrote. “Christians are not equal to Muslims in the eyes of Arab activists.? Christians are not equal to Muslims in the eyes of Arab activists. There are only a few places Christian Arabs can turn to for support. One of those few places is Israel.” Pray that the world wakes up to the truth about Israel and is no longer deceived by Muslim lies.
