David’s Comment: The Gospel is for the Jews First
Romans 1:16 I am not ashamed of the Gospel because it is the power of GOD unto salvation, for everyone who believes, but to the Jew first ………
This week’s comment is really a prayer request. Over recent years, the Haifa Municipality hosts a Multi-Faith Festival at this time of the year. The festival is meant to foster understanding and peace between the people of the 3 main religions, Jewish, Christian and Muslim. The event is this Friday and Saturday and our congregation always sends a team out to share the Gospel with the people who are attending the festival. Of course I am not normally a fan of Multi-Faith events, but as an evangelist I love the share the truth with people, so I am planning to go out with the team on Saturday. We take out flasks of hot cider which we offer to the people passing by. We also take out tracts and books which we offer to the people who we have conversations with.
The festival takes place in the Arab section of Haifa city, so there is always a large number of Jews (mainly secular or into New Age or occult), Arab Christians (mainly nominal), and Muslims (mainly secular). There were even Jewish members of the Hare Krishna sect clanging their drums and chanting around the festival streets. Devout Jews and Muslims do not like to mix with other faiths, so they would not normally visit a multi-faith event. There are street musicians and other various types of artists, a variety of vendors, and different types of food, which all are designed to draw the people to attend the festival.
We are all aware of the verse from Romans 1:16, and I personally believe that if we follow the Biblical pattern, then the LORD is able to anoint our efforts in a greater way, be that prayer or sharing the Gospel. At the end of the 19th century, Scottish evangelist prayed for Revival in Scotland. However he knew that he had to apply Romans 1:16, so he traveled the long journey to Jerusalem , an preached the Gospel to the Jews he encounter in the LORD’s capital city, as well as the Jews he encountered on his journeys. He saw very little fruit from his labors, but having followed the pattern he read in Romans 1:16, he returned to Scotland, where soon after a very significant Revival broke out.
The word ‘first‘ in Romans 1:16 is the Greek word ‘Proton”, which my Bible concordance translates as ‘first in time,in principal, order, succession, in honour. of or as a priority. I believe the main reason the Jews are the first or the priority, is that Yeshua said in Matthew 23:39, that He is not coming back until all Israel is saved and saying to Him “Baruch ha Bah B Shem Adonai” or ” Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD.” On the basis of that verse and others it is imperative that the Jewish people hear the Gospel and have a revelation that Yeshua of Nazareth is indeed the long awaited Messiah of Israel and the Jewish people. However until recently in most situations, the Gospel has been presented to the Jews last or not at all. Therefore we will be going out to the streets this weekend to follow that same Biblical pattern, seeking to reach the Jewish people first, but of course we are going out to speak to people of all persuasions.
As I said at the beginning, this is really a request for prayer and intercession for the outreach in Haifa this weekend. Last year we had the opportunity to share the Good News with all kinds of people who stopped to take a cup of hot cider. Please will you play a part in this outreach by praying for a special anointing on the teams that go out on Friday and Saturday. Please pray for ……..
1/ Good weather and that large numbers of people come out over the 2 days
2/ A good number of Believers to come out with the Festival outreach team
3/ For a strong anointing on the evangelism team members to share the Word and pray for healings
4/ For good follow-up to the people who show interest and want to know more
The LORD bless you as you bless Israel by standing in defense of her right to exist on all of the land given to the Jewish people by the GOD of Israel. Please pray that all Israel will turn back to their GOD. Do not be silent, but share this with your fellow Christians, share it with your pastors, and with anyone you have a chance to speak to. Lets also pray for a breakthrough to the Muslims, and please remember to pray Divine protection for all of the soldiers in the IDF.
Shabbat Shalom ….. David & Josie

We will no longer agree to see Hizbollah as an independent and separate organization from the state of Lebanon, as we did in the Second Lebanon War,” Bennett tweeted. “If heaven forbid, rockets are fired from Lebanon at Israel, it would be seen as an act of war by the sovereign state of Lebanon on the State of Israel, with all that this implies.? In a public statement, the Israeli army reported that just as with the first two tunnels it found, the third has now been booby-trapped with heavy explosives so that it cannot be safely used from the Lebanese side. Israel holds the government of Lebanon directly responsible for these cross-border infractions, which constitute a gross violation of UN Resolution 1701. Yesterday, Prime Minister Netanyahu paid the soldiers on the northern border a visit and was briefed on the progress of the operation. He praised the soldiers for their efforts, and warned Hezbollah against any attempts to oppose the Israeli operation: “If Hezbollah makes the mistake, and decides, in any way, to attack us or to oppose our operation, they will be hit with unimaginable blows.” PM Netanyahu also explained that the operation had been carefully planned in secret, and that Israeli officials knew of the tunnels, but were careful not to let Hezbollah know of their plans.
