David’s Comment: Celebrating the Passover – The Power of the Blood
Exodus 12:24-27 “Obey these instructions as a lasting ordinance for you and your descendants. When you enter the land that the LORD will give you as he promised, observe this ceremony. And when your children ask you, ‘What does this ceremony mean to you?’ then tell them, ‘It is the Passover sacrifice to the LORD, who passed over the houses of the Israelites in Egypt and spared our homes when he struck down the Egyptians.'” Then the people bowed down and worshiped. (NIV)
As the Jewish people prepare to celebrate the Passover on Monday night, and Christians around the world prepare to celebrate Easter the following week, the gap between the 2 events which in many ways celebrate the same thing, this year’s 5 day gap between the Jewish Passover and the Christian Easter highlights the distance that the Church has drifted from her Biblical roots. The Church of the 1st century did not celebrate Easter, but followed the Biblical feast cycle, of which Passover is the first feast of each year. Ever since the 2nd century the Church has been largely cut off from her Biblical roots, and over the last 1900 years, Christianity has drifted further and further away from the practices and lifestyle of the early Believers.
Passover is the absolute foundation of the events that Easter remembers. Passover is the story of the Israelites deliverance from slavery in Egypt. To bring that deliverance YHVH told each Israelite family to sacrifice a spotless lamb and applied its blood to the door posts of their houses. That night YHVH passed through all of Egypt and slayed the first born son of every Egyptian home. When HE saw the blood on the Israelites doors, HE passed over the houses of the Jewish families, hence the name Passover. Even Pharaoh’s son was killed, prompting the Pharaoh to stop testing God, and he finally allowed Moses to lead the Israelites to freedom. GOD also instructed the Israelites to remember and celebrate the Passover forever, to teach their children about what HE had done for HIS people.
At Passover time approximately 1970 years ago, as the Jewish people were again preparing to celebrate the festival, the Father in Heaven was also preparing a Passover of His own. As the Jews bought their lambs on the 10th day of the month of Nisan, God’s Lamb entered Jerusalem riding on a donkey, thus fulfilling the messianic prophecy in Zechariah 9:9. Christians celebrate this day as Palm Sunday. The Jewish people inspected their lambs for 4 days and then they slayed them at 3 pm on Nisan 14th. At 3 pm on Nisan the 14th that year the Lamb of God bled to death on a cross at Calvary in Jerusalem.
It is very easy to see the unmistakable similarities between the Old Covenant original and the New Covenant fulfillment, which both occur at exactly the same time on the same date in the Hebrew calendar. The most important detail of the events of Nisan 14th, is that it was the blood of the lamb that set the Israelites free from slavery in Egypt, and it is the blood of God’s Lamb, Yeshua, that sets us free from slavery to sin and from the wages of sin – DEATH.
The other point is that if the ‘Passion’ week fulfills the Passover typology, then you cant have Palm Sunday and Good Friday because there is only 4 days between the 10th and 14th Nisan. I believe that Psalm Sunday is correct, but a Friday crucifixion is not possible, as it would make it 6 days that Yeshua was inspected. I believe that Yeshua was crucified on Wednesday afternoon, and was placed in the tomb just before the Passover Sabbath began (that was not a Friday Sabbath). That is the only way Yeshua could have been in the grave for 3 days and 3 nights. And that is the only sign Yeshua gave the people that He was the Son of Man. (please read Matthew 12:39 – 40)
If I am correct, then Christians have been remembering the wrong day since the Nicean Council in 325 AD. Also there is the issue of the name ‘Easter’. There is strong evidence that the word is related to Ishtar, an occultic goddess. Whether that is true or not, the sad fact is that because Easter is far removed from Passover, for much of the once Christian world the most sacrificial act ever committed has been reduced to nothing more than a public holiday which focuses on chocolate eggs and rabbits. For so many, the connection to salvation and the promise of eternal life in the Kingdom of God through the death and resurrection of Yeshua, the Son of God and the Lamb of God has been lost. Wearing my evangelist hat, I believe that telling the Passover story, focusing on and explaining the power of the blood of the Lamb has much greater effect in reaching the lost in your families and friendship circles.
If 1900 years of this non-Jewish understanding of the Bible caused the Church to celebrate its important event – the New Covenant initiating crucifixion of the Son of God on the wrong day, then one must ask the question …. what else have we been doing wrong ? Perhaps we should also be asking ……
* Is the Sabbath Saturday or Sunday ?
* Are the Biblical Feasts still important for Christians ?
* Do the LORD’ Commandments still apply ?
* Did Yeshua come to abolish the Torah or to embody the Torah and demonstrate how to live in the Kingdom ? CLIK Here to see my new booklet on Restoration
Generally, my messages focus on the relevance of the restoration of the Jewish people to their land and to the Messiah. However I have realised for some time now that GOD is also in the process of restoring the Church to her Biblical roots. Each year more and more Christians celebrate the Biblical Sabbath (on Staturday), Passover, Shavuot (Pentecost) and the Feast of Tabernacles. Seems something is happening ……. God is preparing to re-establish His Kingdom on the Earth with His Son Yeshua, the Passover LAMB returning to Jerusalem as the Lion of the Tribe of Judah, to sit on the Throne of David to be King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
Josie and I pray that you will have amazing opportunities to share the truth of Yeshua’s Passover sacrifice as you celebrate with you family and friends this weekend, and that the people most dear to you will come to know Him as their Lord and personal Saviour.
The LORD bless you as you bless Israel by standing in defense of her right to exist on the land given to the Jewish people by the God of Israel. Lets pray that Israel will turn back to their God. Do not be silent, but share this with your fellow Christians, share it with your pastors, and with anyone you have a chance to speak to. Lets also pray for that breakthrough to the Muslims, and please remember to pray Divine protection for all of the soldiers in the IDF.
Shabbat Shalom & Hag Pesach Sameach …… David & Josie

1. USA Still Controlling Where Jews Can Live INN News March 31st
Israel?s new policy on construction in Judea and Samaria will be in line with President Donald Trump?s views on the issue. At last Thursday night?s Cabinet meeting, during which time a new community for the residents of Amona was approved, PM Netanyahu told the ministers that taking into account Trump’s positions, Israel will take significant steps to reduce the expansion of the built-up areas of Judea and Samaria. He added that Israel would significantly reduce new construction in the region “in order to allow for progress in the peace process.” A senior White House official said that PM Netanyahu had committed to the creation of a new community for the residents of Amona before Trump directly expressed his concerns regarding further construction. According to the official, Netanyahu was also planning to adopt a new policy on Judea and Samaria from here on out that would take Trump’s concerns into account. “President Trump has publicly and privately expressed his concerns regarding settlements,” said the official. Please pray the the US State Department stops
pressuring the Israeli government to go against the Word and will of God
2. Israeli Politian Says ” We can not allow PM Netanyahu to Limit New Housing INN News April 1st
Israeli politician Betzalel Smotrich (Jewish Home) is bothered by the Security Cabinet?s agreement to restrain building in Judea and Samaria and build only within the boundaries of existing communities except for extenuating circumstances. ?The decision of the Cabinet is very worrying,? he said. Smotrich pointed out as evidence what he saw as Netanyahu?s effective admission yesterday that he had instructed a halt in the marketing of 2,000 housing units which had been approved two months ago, after his office had denied that this was the case. ?This admission, along with the fact that since the elections in the US the supreme planning council in Judea and Samaria has not convened – which means that the plans the PM ?approved? were not advanced, shows that the 5,500 housing units presumably approved was nothing more than a bluff. ?We will have to be monitoring, and we can?t let PM Netanyahu let construction plans fade into nowhere.? The Jewish Home party has demanded the convening of the supreme planning council immediately following the Passover holiday in order to put the Security Cabinet decision to immediate test. ?We will put on the council?s table all the plans which need to be decided upon and we?ll see whether the PM will approve progress on them or not. If he doesn?t approve them, we will be unable to open the summer session of the Knesset in a normal way,? Smotrich threatened. Please pray that PM Netanyahu stops giving in to American & European pressure to limit new housing in Judea & Samaria
3. Israel Initiates New Anti-Missile Defense System INN News April 2nd
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu attended the ceremony marking the operational integration of the David’s Sling air defense system on Sunday at the Hatzor Air Force Base in southern Israel. The three tiers of Israel’s anti-missile defense technology now comprises of Iron Dome, which covers short range rockets and missiles (up to 70km range), David’s Sling the medium range system (70 ? 300km range), and the Arrow III anti-ballistic missile system. David’s Sling was developed over the last 10 years by Rafael Advanced Defense Systems in cooperation with the IDF, as an answer to medium range kamikazi drones, rockets and missile fire. Unlike Iron Dome, which is stationary and defends specific areas of Israel, David’s Sling is portable, providing national coverage. Let’s pray that this new anti missile system works perfectly every time it is needed
4. Hamas Threatens to Target Israeli Officials Media Line April 1st
The Hamas terrorist organization ruling in the Gaza Strip released a new video threatening to target Israeli security officials in retribution for the assassination of senior Hamas official Mazan Fukha, who Hamas says was killed by Israel. In the video, Hamas leader Khaled Mashal says ?We accept the challenge? as targets are placed on a series of Israeli officials. After all the faces of the intended targets are shown, the video ends with the warning, “The type of retribution will be in accordance to the act. The enemy uprooted one of our heroes in Gaza.? Israel does not comment on the assassinations of Hamas officials. Meanwhile, a Palestinian who was convicted in the lynching death of two Israeli army reservists who accidentally entered the city of Ramallah, which is administered by the Palestinian Authority, was days ago released recently. Please pray for the protection of Israel?s government and intelligence agency leaders from terrorist attacks and threatened Hamas revenge.
5. Israele Soldier Murdered in Pre-Passover Terror Attacj Israel Today News April 6th
One IDF soldier was reportedly killed and a second lightly wounded in a suspected terrorist car ramming attack north of Jerusalem on Thursday morning. The attack occurred outside the Samarian Jewish community of Ofra. The victims were standing at a bus stop / hitchhiking post when a Palestinian Arab motorist slammed into them. Israeli security forces in the area “neutralized” the suspected terrorist. One of the victims, both of whom were in the 20s, was at first listed in critical condition, but he succumbed to his injuries a short time later. Please pray for more Angels to be despatched to protect Israel over the Passover festival
6. Majority of Israelis Prefer Right Wing Government
There?s growing talk of early elections in Israel (not that that?s anything new), but yet another poll shows that all that?d be accomplished would be to further solidify Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu?s mandate to govern. According to the monthly Peace Index conducted by the Israel Democracy Institute, an overwhelming 70 percent majority of Israelis want a right-wing, conservative government. A mere 24 percent want a left-wing government. And while Netanyahu?s Likud wouldn?t necessarily emerge with a clear majority of its own, there is little, if any, doubt that it would remain the strongest of the right-wing parties. And that means Netanyahu would almost certainly remain prime minister. Lets pray that there will be no need for early elections and the PM Netanyahu continues to lead the country
7. Israel Company Produces Water from Air Times of Israel News April 5th
An Israeli company whose technology made a splash at last week?s AIPAC conference has signed deals to produce drinking water ? by extracting it from the air ? in India and Vietnam, two countries that have long faced shortages. Water Gen signed an agreement last week with India?s second-largest solar company to produce purified water for remote villages in the country. Earlier, the company arranged with the Hanoi government to set up water generators in the Vietnamese capital. ?The government of Vietnam greatly esteems the technological developments in Israel, and I hope that the Israeli technology that we supply to Vietnam will significantly help to improve water conditions in the country,? Water Gen President Mikhael Mirilashvili said after the signing in Hanoi, according to a statement. The memoranda of understanding are worth $150 million in total, according to Water Gen, which was founded in 2009 and creates technology that extracts water from the air for use by civilians and soldiers who do not have access to clean sources.
